Henderson should have come on instead of Gold too surely

JT was having a great time down the right. And then when Gold went left back the second half it was a bit of a mess. Took till the 2 subs to tidy us up again.

JT

ToB

Henderson

Hammy

Way to go surely

Yeah, would have made more sense to make a like-for-like swap instead of upsetting the balance. We definitely lost something after little went off as JT/our right side was dominant up until then.

Vividly remember Arbroath coming to Stark’s in their title winning year and their sole tactic was to maim Lewis Vaughan. Glass houses, welcome the stones and people.

My main memory of that game is that nearly every time Vaughn went down injured, the referee didn't award a foul.

How does that work? Surely intending to maim should merit a foul?

Maybe, just maybe the referee got it right that day?

Came away from that game very frustrated. I thought the ref was poor but he can’t be blamed for inability to turn domination into victory. Between them, JT and Scott Stewart had umpteen opportunities to put a good ball into the box during the first half and failed 99% of the time. I’m as big a Scott Stewart fan as the next person but to take his game to the next level he needs to start consistently scoring/assisting goals.

Just a wee reminder that when someone is saying stuff thats only intention is to get a rise out of folk, completely ignoring them is far and away the best way to annoy them.
As for the game, absolutely dreadful, and the worst I’ve seen this season by a mile.
Couldn’t get a great look at the McKenna challenge on Spencer, so maybe it wasn’t as bad as it looked, but I thought he got away with a pretty bad one at first viewing.
Maybe Brad said something about vaccinations being a sensible approach to easing symptoms during a pandemic and Mikey took umbrage, who knows?

Anyway, take a point and let’s forget this ever happened.

Pretty boy middle class socialist views don’t cut it with me, but hey ho Killie next week so let’s move on & upwards

Excellent point and showed a different side to us today that gives me confidence we can challenge for the title.

Thought the HT sub helped nullify the time & space JT was getting on the right to shell in balls. Frankie got a wake up call today, it's not all strolling about the park with time to collect crosses and trying wee lay offs. After Ross came on we gave Jason some actual defending to do.

I heard some boos at the end of the game (I hope it was aimed at the ref NOT our team) but I thought after the first 15 minutes until the late Bobby Linn chance we kept Arbroath at bay fairly well.

It's a result that gives me hope of going the distance anyway. If we can't win ugly games then don't lose them.

Has to be said though,  Arbroath was a great day out and any Arbroath fan we spoke too were absolutely top class.   Best day out by far in this league.

Im just relieved you didn’t get stabbed in bar1320

Incredible first sentence. Care to unpack all that?

Ref had zero impact on the end result.  Rovers came to get a draw, and did so with minimum fuss.   Neither team will be particularly worried about the opposition following that, it was as non descript q game as you will find.

I'm willing to bet the phrase  "playing for a draw" isnt in McGlynns vocabulary.  Quite possibly he set us up not to get beat/concede, but that's a different outlook.

Looks from the stats that Arbroath just shaded things but only, just, so on that basis probably not enough to win it.

Arbroath enjoyed 8% more possession, 3 more shots at goal but only 1 more on target and 3 more corners. They committed one less foul but picked up 4 yellows to Raith's one.

All of which suggests two fairly evenly matched sides, one set up not to lose and the one unable to break the other one down. = Draw.

One team wanted to force things and win the game, the other happy to avoid defeat and not lose ground on teams around them. Fair I suppose.

confident of a result at firhill next week.

btw what a block from noobz shot early doors in the game.

And still there were 27 fouls. 13 us. 14 them. He was all over the place, absolutely stinking. Surely must’ve been because he was getting assessed or something, nerves getting to him or whatever or he tried too hard but the guy was absolutely stinking. Consistently inconsistent and wrong

Problem was he didn't go to ground with a groan and roll about. That seemed to be guaranteed a free kick today. Matthews at the Stewart booking rolling about like a fish out of water then jumps up and runs off when the yellow card comes out. Ref totally oblivious to it.

I've got to say, he won a lot of free kicks at RP recently, few of them IMHO were correct, but i believe this was more for the way he plays rather than him 'going down easily'.

He is a skilful player who protects the ball well by putting himself between him and his opponent.

Very difficult to play against, he'll be missed after the break.
