Arbroath v Queens

Recommended Posts

You should be able to pay cash on the day of the game right up to kick off .

I will never buy a ticket online always cash on match day .

On to football what a player Nouble is it will be interesting to see how he gets on at Livi .in.the New Year.

Find it weird fans are ranting about online tickets only and they dont have access to social media/online ticket info when they’re posting on an online football forum but hey ho

Obviously the ones posting on this issue have access to online booking, myself included, that doesn't mean we can't highlight the problem this may cause for people who don't, or the fact that, I at least, think every game should have facilities to allow EVERY fan access irrespective of having Internet access or not. It did cause me slight inconvenience/stress to get into yesterday's game having to download a ticket at late notice, at least I was able to do that, those, if any, who turned up and didn't have that facility weren't so fortunate.

At QOS you queue to buy a ticket in a room where people are socialising, eating and drinking with little room to socially distance.
This is not ideal either. There is no option to buy online.
Swings and roundabouts.
Someone else's doing something wrong isn't really an valid excuse.

Queens should have the option to buy tickets online but that has absolutely no bearing on Arbroaths arrangements, which really should include a walk up option.

I'd be pleased if Queens stared selling online but really disappointed if we didn't offer a walk up.

Reason enough for Queens to sell online right there.

Laughable attempt at whataboutery deflection. The point is, you turn up at Palmerston on matchday, you can buy a ticket to get in. You don't have to either do so in advance or be carrying an internet enabled device with you to do so.

There are three ticket offices at Palmerston. You don't have to use the one in the Arena and, since the bar at the ground has now reopened, the room you refer to now only has ticket buyers in it anyway. The bottle bar was a temporary thing while the pub was out of bounds. You can literally queue down the street at Palmerston as far as you like at either of the other ticket offices too. Absolutely no need for a lack of social distancing if that's bothering you. Likewise plenty of room to sit down away from everyone else.

Can’t see this info on your website. Do you have signs around your ground so folk without internet are aware of all this. I certainly didn’t see it and was shown to the room by a passing QOS fan.

See if you take a day off, you'll not be an arse your entire life.

Personally, I think that it is a disgrace that the turnstiles at Gayfield don't take credit cards or contactless payment.

I also think that there should be a 'barter' turnstile, where you can get into the ground by paying in smoked fish, jam-jars or empty lemonade bottles.

Perhaps AFC should also look into accepting payment in foreign currencies - I still have a whole lot of Bulgarian lev that I didn't use because of covid.

I am extremely important, and AFC should not be able to dictate payment methods to me.

That may have sounded smart in your head but when you see it written down its just stupid.

Obviously, I was taking the pish, but the current segregation arragements at Gayfield severely limit the number of away fans that can get in.

There are very few away stand tickets available, and the current segregation arragements will only allow approx. 1600 away fans on the harbour end terracing. If you sell more tickets, you would be allocated half the sea side covered terrace as well.

Decisions like this need to be made in advance, so I can see why AFC are insisting on online sales only.

Except you can buy on-line right up to kick off.

Yes, and if there is a sudden late surge in sales, and the segregation arrangements are already in place, then online sales will stop when the away capacity is reached.

Have QotS never organised an all-ticket game?

Make up your mind, is it so you can plan in advance or deal with a late surge in sales?

If the away end sells out then you can stop selling walk ups from a ticket office and stop online sales.

All-ticket games are a straw man. The game wasn't all ticket and there was no suggestion from arbroath that tickets should be bought in advance because there could be capacity issues.

If you expect to sell out then only selling online in advance is fair enough. If you are still selling online up to kick off then there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to sell walk ups too.

You are aware that there are other matters to consider in the current environment?

Arbroath (and Queens) are in an odd situation. Neither of us normally have more than 4999 people in our stadia on a match day (that figure includes staff, police, players etc), so we do not need to have covid passport checks in place. However. both our stadia have capacities in excess of 5000. If more that 5000 people attend an outside event, Covid checks are still a legal requirement.

AFC will have discussed this with Angus Council, and will have contingency plans in place if total attendance approaches 5000. I would not be surprised if Angus Council have insisted that all payments be made in advance, and will have asked AFC to discourage walk-up attendees.

You state "If you are still selling online up to kick off then there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to sell walk ups too." That's apart from the additional costs to the club in manning this ticket desk, of course.

Your point about all-ticket games being a straw man is also a straw man. Arbroath can set their own conditions regarding purchasing tickets in advance. They publicised these conditions and if QotS did not publicise this decision to their fans, I would suggest that QotS are the guilty party.

I fully intend to check the Killie website this week, and will comply with any (and all) restrictions on purchase of tickets for the away end. I would encourage all QotS fans to adopt the same approach in future.

So did any QOTS fans make the trip and then not get in because of the ticketing arrangements?

Not sure on that one, but Morton and Inverness (briefly) have had card machine issues this season when we have visited and think some Queens and Morton fans missed the start. I have no issues with the ticketing arrangements but can see how some people would, the club shop was open could they not have a handful of tickets and take payment on the day ? I did see two people being turned away with cash in their hands but no idea if they went on to a phone and got tickets sorted.

I'm sure if they post on here you'll find out, otherwise it's anybodies guess. Of course they won't be able to read your post and reply on here if they're don't have Internet. You see the problem with solely e-tickets?

Just imagining all these Amish type folk loving down in Dumfriesshire. Seriously how is this conversation still going

1408 attendance on Saturday which is decent considering that’ll be by far our smallest away support

I like how you're wrapping the tickets snoozefest up by going on to crowds. Historically a far less boring thing to discuss on P+B*...

*Unless you're associated with Falkirk FC.
