As you would expect, Rangers Media has a tribute thread on the go with grown men talking about how they're in tears etc. They've now moved on to gushing tributes to the spaniel. "Outstanding", "Superhuman", "as strong as his Mum was" etc.

It makes you want to stick your fingers down your throat.

ETA: If history has stopped, what happens to Rangers' titles?

"I find that one of the sad things," she would say in the late 1980s, is "that people don't take on jobs for life, they try different things the whole time."

Wait, the Queen actually said this??!  The peasants should be stuck in a role for life whether they like it or not, just because the queen has no choice?  Variety shouldn't be the spice of life?

I'm noticing a distinct trend here:   If she's stuck in something for life, everybody else should be too;  If the royals can't have fun, then the public can't have fun;  If the Queen ceases to exist, then the corgi line can't either.

"Wonderful woman"?  Pull the other one.

Apart from watching football this weekend, what will the posters of P&B refrain from for the next couple of days as a bizarrely nonsensical mark of respect.

I shall not wipe my arse.

skidmark of respect.

As a mark of respect, any pornography that the community watches should have a royal theme.

it's what she would have wanted.

Apparently the state funeral will not be a bank holiday (as was predicted for a while). It’s likely to be on a Sunday anyway. Apart from the enforced grief porn across the mainline channels, cancellations of games and some events, and a hazy and undefined nine days of “national mourning”, nothing is really happening. Certainly, nothing positive is being given to her beloved subjects - we’re just having things taken away.

It looks like the might be saving the “positive” stuff for a coronation, which will probably be mid-summer next year (to try and re-enact the jubilee and to be as far as possible from two potentially crippling winters).

Who is the 'monarch' until then then?

Just had an email at work asking if anyone wants to volunteer to "line the Kingsway in Dundee" on Sunday as Boxed Liz is passing through on route to Edinburgh.  It says we need to, and I quote "represent Dundee in its best light to the world's media".

Might go along and redirect her down the Hilltown.

The email said to keep it confidential!

What these images don't say is that this corgi was selected as part of Project Unicorn to be her companion in the afterlife.

At 6.45 pm yesterday, the new King performed his first duty and drowned the beloved pet in a bucket of water sourced from the Balmoral Estate.
