Accies are playing in the Challenge Cup v Killie the next day. So it would have to be Friday/Saturday for them.
Also worth mentioning that QP would need thistle's permission for the game to be a Friday or Saturday as thistle have also been drawn at home and obviously have first dibs on the pitch. Just going by Jane Lewis reaction when going through the ties QP killie sounds like a shoe in for their first choice

Thought that too at the time. Although it was part of what must have been one of the eggiest half time segments ever seen. Craig Moore tried but Darren Jackson was a stammering wreck. A right cringefest.

Jane Lewis won't have the slightest bit of influence on what game the BBC picks.

No. But she's more likely to have an idea of what game her bosses are discussing than you or I.

I would guess she'll know exactly as much as we do, ie nothing.

Of course I could have just looked up Brechin’s Twitter to find the answer😒

Surprising choice but good on the Beeb for not going for the obvious selection. Be good if they had a Scottish Cup Sportscene that Saturday to show highlights of some cracking ties.

Kilmarnock and Hamilton Accies having a Challenge Cup game on the 30th has been mentioned as a possible reason for opting for this tie.

Darvel and Clydebank defeating League Two opposition gets described as being a shock but it's got more to do with the top WoS clubs not having had time to progress to their natural level yet and being in a misleading position in league status terms.

With the Killie pieman on board that's probably League One for Darvel in a Kelty sort of way. Over time there's no obvious reason why Clydebank couldn't slowly get back to where they were under Jack Steedman.

Surely the Scottish Cup takes precedence over the Challenge!?!

It takes precedence in the sense that Challenge Cup games would be postponed if a Scottish Cup game clashed with it on the same matchday. However, it's a different thing to expect an already scheduled Challenge Cup game to be moved at reasonably short notice to accommodate a Monday night game in the previous matchday.

The SPFL and SFA work out match schedules to specifically avoid games having to be shifted around like this. If either us or Hamilton had been put on the Monday night (and I don't think our tie is very interesting or worthy of scheduling anyway) then that Challenge Cup game would normally have to be moved to a Thursday (and both clubs' league games moved to Sunday), but that wouldn't be possible because we are already on the BBC on the Friday night against Inverness.
