Celtic v St Johnstone (Easy 3 points)

Recommended Posts

No Davidson or MoH in the squad. Lot of pressure for the front players to get on the ball. Wouldn't be surprised to see Middleton as an out and out striker alongside Kane to try and get 2 on 2 with the centre halves.

Hopefully Middleton is told to just run at Ralston every time he gets the ball, and/or exploit the gap there when he comes inside and forgets where hes meant to be.

Can hopefully put last week to bed this afternoon. Where that shambles came from, I'm not sure, but needs to be consigned to history today.

Need to see the shape back working well and give us something to take into a couple of tough games coming up.

Can't help but feel that'll be that, we've done nothing with the ball outwith the opening 10 mins or so.

Goal conceded is so poor, just basic stuff yet again.

Well done to Ralston for playing a simple 3 yard pass. He's quite clearly a level below the rest of your team.

It would be if Ralston had done anything special for the goal, but Callum Booth played more of a part in it than him.

Poor by Booth. We didn't look too troubled at the back and If we get to ht 0-0 it's a perfectly acceptable 45 minutes away to one of the OF, despite us doing next to nothing going forward since the opening period as RG said, when we actually looked decent on the ball for a wee spell.

It feels as though individual errors are our downfall so far this season, when you look at last season from new year onwards there were so few.

Difficult task ahead. Need to do far more, but the risk of opening up and leaving gaps for Celtic to exploit is the issue.  Would probably settle for 1-1 now.

Disappointing to be behind in a game that's not really had any great chances especially with the goal coming from a mistake. Started well first 10-15 but fell out of it from an attacking sense. Be tempted to move Middleton central or get May on to try and occupy celtics back two a bit more.

McPherson needs to do a bit more on the ball for me.

Such a timid performance, struggling to see any way we would've taken anything from this game with this display. Offered no threat to Celtic at all.

Celtic player lunges into a tackle at head height with his studs up, against a player going for a header, and Nick Walsh genuinely considered giving them a free kick.

Not sure we've learned an awful lot new from that. More solid at least with Clark not really busy until the game had gone. Need to be better going forward - 15 minutes in the first and 10 in the second where we have plenty of possession and territory but don't manage one meaningful effort at goal.

Bryson return one of the positive but wasn't supported by others in particular McPherson who I was pretty underwhelmed by. Think the back three have to be braver stepping out from time to time too. Front three didn't do enough to hold it although Wotherspoon probably escapes criticism from that more than the other two.

Eta - Callum trolling the saints fan with E2's 5 minutes there.

A Celtic player also got booked for being kicked while on the deck and then being swung at so the less said about Nick Walsh the better.

With regards to the match that was a stroll in the park, got some momentum going now if we can pick up another 3 points at Hibs that will be as good a return of points we could have hoped for in what was a really difficult run of fixtures
