Considering they lost 5-1 to a side that will be in Tier 9 next season, it's not looking great for them is it?

If you want a rough idea how the Vale will likely end up you only have to look at Hawick since they departed the Lowland League.

It's only slightly better, but a Coldstream/Peebles type existence could be in store.

Hawick have typically been stuck at the bottom of the old EoS First once the two divisions were introduced and settled. Vale of Leithen by comparison were EoS Premier or challenging for promotion from EoS First type side.

We played Vale in our first ever LL game, they looked a decent outfit then. Spearheaded by Keith McLeod?? It was an ex Spartans striker if I remember. It’s a real shame what’s happened to them and I’m not a fan of the constant ridicule they get.

it’s not their fault they’re in the situation that they are. Without teams like Vale the pyramid wouldn’t be what it is today. Yes, COVID has delayed their natural progression down but you can’t blame them for that.

Good luck to the new coaching team, hopefully their appointment can spark an uplift in their fortunes and they can stabilise at their level. But only after they play us thank you very much.
