Unbeaten Hearts v Rampant Dundee

I also feel like Gnanduillet has earned a go from the start but it's very difficult to accommodate both him and Boyce at the moment. It's also arguable that he's most effective off the bench.

Not sure I've been more wrong about anything. Worse than hopeless when he came on.

We'd better pray that Boyce is ok, otherwise we're fucked.

Woodburn coming off at half-time was probably the right call but GMS was anonymous when he came on aside from the shot off the post. McKay, on the other hand, was very good and we were immediately less threatening when he went off.

As for the result, I'm not surprised. We've been good at dominating games which will see us get the result more often than not, but we haven't necessarily been that good at killing them off. Sometimes you get punished for that, especially when the other team has a striker who always scores against you. We'll draw and lose plenty of games because of this and it's why we'll be nowhere near 1st place come the end of the season.

I wasn't particularly impressed by Dundee but they stayed in the game and they've got some dangerous players who can capitalise when a chance comes along. I'd definitely fancy them to finish above Ross County at least, and they've got more about them than Livi.

That wasn't good enough.

Dundee are patently shit and will no doubt be relegation play-off fodder.

Hearts have too many players not doing enough though. Woodburn rightly hooked at HT. Beni and Boyce busy but falling over themselves or missing easy chances. Gnando is useless. GMS too lightweight.

Still, unbeaten and probably still will be into the second quarter.

Basically we can copy our opponents posts from last week about not burying the game when we should have and paste them in here as our own. Dundee did to us what we did to Rangers

Not a great day but on the brighter side we’ve stretched our lead over Hibs and we’re technically top of the league till tomorrow so things could be worse.

For Dundee that’s a big step forward. The championship Dundee were more than useful and would, in a normal season, have come up as champions. Given that they were, and remain, the last team to take 3 points off hearts it was a surprise to see them struggling at the start of the season

Charlie Adam being injured fucked us for a period. Our whole style of play, formation and system is built round him. His presence, even when he's not playing very well means that teams will always try to combat him allowing the likes of McCowan and McMullan more time and space.

Without him, teams just doubled up on McMullan and it meant Jordan McGhee had to be our prominent creator and as I'm sure you know, that's just not his game and like a deck of cards everything that was so good turned to shite.

Dundee still clear in 2nd bottom place. They are there for a reason. Let them enjoy their trip to Tynecastle and a precious point for them.
