I mean, there's a pretty obvious reason why nothing really changed after the Jo Cox murder.

Violence against women is accepted.

Violence against perceived "re-moaners" was encouraged.

We need a better climate to carry out political discourse.

social media seems to feed the rage, it does seem to radicalise people and probably everyone is feeding into that at times

Mainstream broadcast media is just as bad. People threatening MPs with assault being broadcast live on Sky news. The whole GB news nonsense. The Daily Mail running a hate campaign with the judges who up held the law.

This country is in the gutter.

ETA, it's horrific that another family has had to face the horrible consequences of the temperature being ramped up.

Pretty much this.

It's another horrific event, but it's going to be a pass the popcorn moment to see who the right wing media....an organisation that have worked hand in hand with the Tory party, UKIP, Farage et al. in polarising the country....will blame for this.

My bet is that The Express will go for Nicola Sturgeon, with The Telegraph choosing to insist that Michel Barnier is banged up for life for this heinious crime.

Tory Councillor in Cowdenbeath already tried to blame her, Rayner, McDonnell and Corbyn.

That a Tory Councillor exists in Cowdenbeath has at least brought a bit of humour to events.

Well done

These are valid points, but ultimately Thomas Mair shared a similar world view to a not small amount of our politicians and media.

You're not really going to shine a spotlight on the reason Mair killed Cox, 'Labour/liberals/the left are snivelling traitors who hate Britain and want to import jihadis to rape your daughter' if you're screaming this yourself, or piping it directly into people's homes.

The result of this has been the continuous laundering of fascism into mainstream discourse and a political climate that sees stating that Boris Johnson is a liar after he's lied, calling Tories scum after they've done something scummy as beyond the pale, worthy of 'won't somebody please think of the discourse' handwringing, whilst the Home Secretary and the commentary go on TV to say 'actually we should let people drown in the English Channel'.

The genie isn't going back in the bottle.

Definite lack of imagination there.

I always think the most horrifying part is when you realise your number is up.

As unpleasant as this attack was, I think sitting on a ledge in WTC, fully conscious, perfectly healthy and having to decide to jump or burn.

In the stabbing situation you might be so engaged in defending yourself, albeit in abject terror that the thought of dying doesn't sink in until you're almost gone.

The arsehole seems to have deleted his tweet.

It's only the start though. The Tories and their media lapdogs are working out how to make political capital out of this.

I'd imagine they'll be starting with Angela Rayner...
