He looks exactly like the type of guy who would manage to have a shit time in Glasgow to be fair.

Not quite sure he is saying you'd have a shit time in Glasgow, just that for the average tourist or delegate it's a pretty unmemorable city. Which it probably is.

He probably spent a night outside Oran Mor demanding a bored bouncer let him in, even though he'd pissed himself, because his shoes cost £200 and has never forgiven the place.

Is that not the guy who bought Wrexham with Ryan Reynolds?

@PWL daily George Square update?!

Empty. As in lockdown empty.

Just a handful of bored polis.  As an aside, Polis in baseball caps look terrible. I'm assuming they are outside forces?

Dozzy bint turned up at an entrance without disabled access. There were plenty of other entrances she could have used, but then again she wouldn't have been able to whine about it if she had. They were meant to let the organisers know if there are any special access needs.

What was the process of Glasgow being picked to host this?

From the always reliable Scotsman...

"The UK and Italy were selected to for the COP26 Presidency as part of a joint bid to the COP Bureau.

The pre-COP event took place in Milan in Italy from September 30th to October 2nd.

The UK then selected Glasgow as the host city, largely due to its experience in hosting world class events, commitment to sustainability, and first-rate facilities.

For example Glasgow was awarded the status of Global Green City by the Global Forum on Human Settlements at their Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements Awards Ceremony 2020.

The city also has the target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 and is currently ranked fourth in the world in the Global Destination Sustainability Index (GDS-Index)."

Got to hope Johnson's minders don't let him find out the Gabon President's name to stop him slipping it into an impromptu remark and giggling.

Quote

The Gabonese president Ali Bongo has just given a rousing speech at the forestry event in the Pen Y Fan room. The oil-rich nation is among the most forested countries in the world with low rates of deforestation, home to the majority of the critically endangered African forest elephant. The world’s second largest rainforest received £1.1 billion in funding, including £200m from the UK, as part of the announcement on forests.

“The Congo basin is the heart and lungs of the African continent. We cannot win the battle [on the climate] without the Congo rainforest. Our forests send rain to the Sahell and the Ethiopian highlands. They are critical to the African continent. Yet, the international community has consistently undervalued this critical ecosystem,” President Bongo says. “It is my hope that Glasgow will mark a turning point.”
