The Celtic fans celebrating that VAR decision last night like they’d won the champions league was a new low for football cringe. And I think joe hart knew it.

I thought it was comedy gold.

It hasn't been changed for the benefit of referees. It's been changed for the benefit of thousands of moronic fans and for reasons relating to money.

One of the SFA's primary justifications for using it in Scotland was that it would allow our referees to continue being involved at the top level in Europe.

I've been to a couple of games with VAR now and it's really not that bad, even somewhat enjoyable for the double celebration when it comes to pass.

Can't really be confident that the authorities up here will use it particularly fairly but given some of the terrible decisions I've seen over the years I'm happy to give it a chance.

Got to disagree with you that a 'double celebration' is good. A goal happens once.

I've also been to lots of VAR games, and it's fucking pish. Celebrating a goal while in the back of your mind never knowing if it's going to stand, then sometimes hanging around for a few minutes while they check? f**k that.

That was next level tin pot. Only for the other mob to score 2 mins later. HA!

I have too and I think it's stinking. Celebrations are subdued then a sigh of relief rather than a double celebration.

I meant the introduction of VAR in general.

Will folk start watching the game they are actually attending, on their phones, so they can tell what the pundits think is happening as officials debate whether a goal is to be given? Be as well staying at home.

I'm sure there people in the stands who already watch replays or clips of goals and decisions that went against their team - which could have be corrected if VAR is in place.

The fact the SFA believe the rollout of VAR is going to be "horrendous" tells you all it needs to about this.

Forcing it through asap. If something is "horrendous" it's clearly not ready. Why continue full steam ahead regardless if it's not ready?

A complete shambles potentially impacting teams, games and results isn't just collateral damage of "teething problems"

They say in the article it's a "soft roll-out".

New technology needs tested in a real-world environment and there will be bugs found, that's normal.
