DukDukGoose
Not a pen for me. He's in the air with dramatic flair before contact is made. Ironically, if he'd stayed on his feet then he'd have been wiped out or had a decent chance to score.

The referee waves play on as the players go absolutely ape shit, the other team hoof the ball up the pitch and it breaks to the striker who goes round the keeper and slots it in to an empty net. The players celebrate for a bit before the teams set up for kick off again, but the referee delays it for a few minutes before being told to go and look at the screen for the original penalty claim. It’s as blatant as they come so he has to disallow the goal and go back and give the penalty That’s the sort of stuff I’m expecting from our officials next year. Think that was a Feyenoord game in the Eredivisie but aye I mind that.

Always find this minimal contact patter amusing, you don't need much to trip a person up or throw them off balance, the slightest nudge, clicking of heels etc can do it. Especially when they're running, and not standing there with their feet firmly planted waiting to repel contact, it's really a nonsense statement. You can be jumping over a tackle and get fouled too, with "minimal contact", that's what looks like happening there.

He thrown himself up in the air to fall and gets a slight bit of contact whilst there. Anyone who's played a game of football knows the boy is at it.

A slight nudge is hardly likely to be a foul, clipping of heels almost certainly should be a foul.

craigkillie
And will probably step up to a higher level fairly quickly if he wants to (and is able to at his age) on account of him having Champions League and international experience.
Ray Patterson
Probably Madden trying to get the most money with what's left of his top-level refereeing career, fair play to him.
ArabFC
I had a work colleague a few years ago who ran the line in the Premier League - raking in a lot of extra dough. He was looking at returning to Scotland so asked if he could transfer - they said aye, but you'll have to start off in League Two - meaning pocket change at best. Funnily enough he stayed in England to run the line at Old Trafford and Anfield rather than Bayview and Cliftonville for 5% of the fee.
kingjoey
First Scottish game likely to have the VAR presiding over it will be the lunchtime kick off match between Aberdeen and Celtic at Pittodrie on 17th December.

tamthebam
I notice that a friendly between Tollcross Thistle and Newmains United at the Oriam this afternoon is designated as a "VAR test game" So when this pish comes in and a dodgy penalty is awarded against your team blame the amateur footballers of Edinburgh
The Master
I thought this was fairly common knowledge already? On one hand you could argue that for an individual game, it’s the same “level” of VAR for both teams. However, the idea that a game could be decided because it happened to be picked by Sky doesn’t seem right. The obvious solution is to limit VAR to the same six angles from every game, regardless of how many cameras are actually there.
bennett
celtic suddenly agreeing to the introduction of VAR should have set off alarm bells. Oh sorry Sevco, (smirking) the camera angle just isn't clear enough.
Busta Nut
This is gonna be a complete shitshow when Celtic and Rangers get 99.9% of things in their favour but there is one contentious thing that goes against them (especially in matches v each other) With Sky having a million cameras compared to the other games then Celtic and Rangers games will automatically have more VAR coverage/angles/option etc. Get this so far to f**k Edited June 19, 2022 by Busta Nut
