Faroe Islands v Scotland

How many times have Scotland turned a great home victory into a meaningless memory by failing to beat the shite side in qualifying away in the same campaign?

Performance not the best tonight but winning while playing poorly away to diddy sides is something we've all craved for years. If you can beat the shite sides home and away then thats half the battle for qualifying, doesn't matter how it happens.

Of course we have, but that's not the point. In 3 of these 4 games we've been awful for most or all of the 90 minutes.

I'm merely pointing out that sheer luck alone is not going to get us through 2 play-off games that won't be against Moldova, Israel or The Faroes.

We're going to have to improve dramatically in defence, and in defensive midfield.

We got to the Euros on penalties.

Let's enjoy 4 wins on the bounce.

The negatives you can leave out.

That fourth consecutive goal for Lyndon Dykes means he is the first Scotland player since Colin Stein in May 1969 to score in four straight games.

So if we beat Moldova we will finish runner up in the group.

The 10 runners up from the leagues get joined by the 2 highest Nations League teams that haven't qualified automatically and are not runner ups......it will be Austria and either Wales or the Czech Republic. The Welsh and Czechs will both be involved in some capacity.

The Twelve teams are then drawn into 3 groups of 4 teams. It's a one leg semi then a one leg final. That gets the 12 teams down to three "Winners" who all qualify for the World Cup.

So Scotland 3 wins from Qatar .

I am really glad it's Moldova then Denmark.

Usually in a double header like that we play the top seed first and expend so much energy we are knackered both physically and mentally for the second game.

Just can't get excited about a world cup in Qatar, even if we do qualify.

Football is a great leveller. Within 6 months of us being there they will be a nation of raging alcoholics and 3 months after that, there wil be an out break of ginger-haired babies.

If we did that we'd have won 7 out of 8 games and some people would still want Steve Clarke sacked

They have a chance via the nations league.

They, unlike us atm, have a playoff spot secured...

This is a football thread. You can't expect Oaksoft to know much about it.
