Faroe Islands v Scotland

The fact we are describing a win against 80th ranked Israel as 'a great home victory' shows that we aren't in great shape. Yes, the nature of it was pleasing but we should be beating the Pot 4 team at home. The best result in this group by a mile has been winning in Austria.
It's more the reality that Israel are a bogie team for us.

Looks like the ball is yet to hit him and would clear his arms. Is the rule not been amended to say something about the shirt sleeve being a playable part of the body?
Either way VAR couldn't have seen enough to overturn the decision
Watched it several times and convinced it's an own goal.

Eh? It quite clearly diverts significantly after hitting Dykes (which it does, towards the top of his chest nearest the right shoulder). That's what puts it in the corner. The initial defensive touch is sending it towards or just to the left of the keeper.

The Faroes looked much better than Scotland did in the first half. Some of their passing and movement was really good, whilst ours looked awkward at best.

Last night they were one of these teams that can have a  sufficient number of players attacking and then a sufficient number back in defence

I can't say I've been impressed by Dykes' performances (on the few times I've seen him, to be fair) but 4 goals in 4 internationals is good going.

There's no doubt that Dykes isn't the most gifted of forwards technically, but he sure as hell helps get us up the park and gives defences a torrid time.  He also makes some great timed runs into dangerous areas which contributes to his scoring, even if his finishing isn't that silky smooth.  I'm not sure that we have better options currently though.  I certainly wouldn't put him on penalties, but you have to credit him for his can-do positive mental attitude (even when things don't go for him) and his all out effort and commitment to the cause - no doubt due in part to his Aussie upbringing.

I know that population based arguments are prone to probably justifiable criticism, but I've just Googled Israel and they have a population of over 9 million (almost double that of Scotland) and whilst they are not a recognised nation with a strong football heritage you would have to think that statistically they would be able to produce more reasonably decent quality footballers on average than a smaller nation like Scotland would.  We often look down on the capability of some countries yet forget that we could also be argued to be punching above our weight somewhat.  Now I know that some folk will mention the likes of Denmark (similar population to Scotland) in response and that is fair play ...... but perhaps we shouldn't write some countries off quite so readily.

The evidence across the decades is that tournament qualification is a decent achievement level for us - we haven't ever progressed beyond that stage to my knowledge.  Doesn't stop us hoping though and nor should it.

We should be beating them ...and I'd be disappointed if we didn't beat India by at least 10

I had no idea that Harry Souttar had switched to Australia. Not sure how that passed me by up to now. I know Boyle was playing for them.

Boyle's an annoying one to have missed out on, especially as he could've been a RWB option back then and now. Forrest, Fraser and Boyle would've been magic wide options once upon a time.

You have to remember the reason that Boyle wasn't called up for Scotland, is that he's been utter shite for the vast majority of his career.

He's improved since Ross came to Hibs, and his diving has come on no end, but there wasn't the slightest comment from anyone when he picked Australia.
