the rule about cathedrals hasn’t been current in Scotland since the reformation got rid of bishops and thus cathedrals. City status is a secular matter here

Staunch catholics, anglicans or Greek Orthodox types may wish to insist on their own list but Brechin and Kirkwall “cathedrals” (and for that matter “St Giles”) are just kirks as opposed to seats of bishops.

Paisley qualifies under RC rules but under Episcopalian rules Millport would have a claim.
