DeeTillEhDeh
A newly built utopian city should be walled off, with any resident convicted of a crime being banished to the 'dark place' outwith the walls forever. This includes wearing Old Firm shirts in public, and orange walks shall not be tolerated. The cultural scene will be amongst the best in the UK, but no tourists will be granted access through the gates to avoid an Edinburgh Festival type affair (performers shall be admitted by permit application only, and Janey Godley's will be rejected). Eta: for avoidance of doubt, there will be freedom of movement for residents. Similar to an RAF base, but much classier.Escape from New Cumnock.Sent from my SM-A125F using Tapatalk

Abdul_Latif
Apparently a straight face off between Dunfermline and St Andrews. Quite like St Andrews, but surely a place with no proper football team won’t get it.
Paul Kersey
The main four cities are the only places in Scotland where the majority of the population support their local football teams. Inverness, Perth and Stirling are full of OF glory hunters. Last time I went down to Stirling to watch the Mo I went into a pub called Nicky Tams, the staff had no idea that there was a game on. I then got a taxi to the ground, the driver admitted that he didn't know what division Albion are in. Stirling has no fucking business calling itself a city. Perth and Inverness are not much better. Largest population growth of any town in Britain between 2001-2011, and in the last decade it was the third fastest economically improving town in Britain apparently. Also has all the history boxes checked, was the seat of power for Scotland for about 400 years, good few Kings and Queens were born, and died here etc. Plus our football team is right fucking shite at the moment so we could do with a leg up tbh.

G51
Of course the Central Belt will get it. The likes of Elgin, Dingwall and Kirkwall won’t be granted city status until the Highlands & Islands are liberated from our oppressors in Edinburgh.

The only town in Scotland where you can get banned from a pub for having smelly farts.
scottsdad
If this were a thing, they'd scoop up a whole area like Orkney and Shetland and call it the "Islands City Region" or some such shite.

Perth should be stripped of its city status if this is the kind of people it produces. Says a lot about your wifes choice in sexual partners tbh.

vikingTON
https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/ayrshire/south-ayrshire-could-become-city-25162829 Someone is clearly going to have to point out to these slackjawed yokels on South Ayrshire Council what an actual fucking city is, and deliver multiple truncheons to the face for the trouble. Ten houses in Barrhill surrounded by 100 square miles of tattie fields is not a fucking city. Get back in your box.
tamthebam
South Ayrshire, bah. Doesn't even have Scotland's seaside city of choice, Saltcoats, in it.

I'm sure it's no coincidence it's a number that would reduce Scotland's quota of cities to two; although it is a surprise they didn't double it so as to make said quota one.
effeffsee_the2nd
why not just copy the yanks and call everything with more than 6 houses a "city" then everybody wins?
