Gaz
I have an old beat-up laptop that was just gathering dust, so I've put it on a shelf above my telly and hooked it up via HDMI. So far, so good. I've got it set so that it displays on the second screen only so it's really just using my telly as a big monitor. However every time the laptop goes to sleep, when I put it back on it displays the signal on the laptop's monitor and not the telly. I need to unplug the HDMI cable from the laptop and plug it back in. This is a bit of a pain in the arse given that the laptop is on a shelf above my telly. Any possible solutions as to how I can stop it doing this? Cheers!

Nah doesn't work - when I try that it doesn't detect another display. Have to physically pull the HDMI cable out the laptop and plug it back in.

You could also try setting the TV as the main display but not sure that would make much difference

Everything works absolutely fine and as intended until I either switch the laptop off or put it to sleep, then when it comes back on it doesn't recognise the telly at all until I unplug and replug the HDMI cable from the laptop.
scottsdad
Can you set the laptop to not go to sleep? Spoiler Hope you're enjoying Pornhub on the big screen
