Clyde vs Queen's Park

Recommended Posts

And so return The Spiders to Broadwood; the happiest of hunting grounds for the itinerant Southsiders over the past decade or so. Of course, the Queen's Park which travels to Cumbernauld next week is not the same Queen's Park that we were used to; for all they have the same mute(ant) fans, the same dichromatic hooped shirts and the same cute little Flagge Deutchlands armband, the club's members famously voted to sell its rich history down the river in return for some coolant capitalist's promised millions.

The home side come into this - as with almost every game over the past year or thereabouts - in utter disarray, with a risibly abysmal squad which is at times incapable of enacting some of football's most elementary principles. On the other hand, the visitors - though goal-shy in the main - have put their financial doping to good use with the pocket-burning assembly of a squad which should have more than enough about it to achieve its second successive league title this term. This party expects a very comfortable away victory in the style of the real Queen's Park (RIP) at Broadwood, and I expect that few will back against such an outcome.

However ugly it gets on the park, at least Clyde and their fans will rightly claim the moral high-ground come 5pm next Saturday, comforted by the knowledge that their club is a storied and sustainable one.

QP have played with a great tempo in a lot of their matches this season. However toothless they are, the movement and quality they've got in midfield could have us chasing the game quite a bit. A hot day and a sticky pitch like the Cove game would do us nicely.

I would go back to the 3-5-2 with Elsden available. Same team as against Cove. Maybe with Cuddihy in for Nicoll.

Parry, Balatoni, Elsdon, Livingstone, Cuddihy, Gomis, Cunningham and Goodwillie. At a push Love. That's it. The drop off after that group is staggering, we can't even name a full eleven that's up to the standard. You look at Alloa who have brought in Niang and Henderson on loan; players like that would take us to another level entirely and give us a chance to compete in these sort of games.

Our only hope is that we spend all week working on defending near-post corners, just in case Jamie Longworth starts.

Will the Clyde support be comfortably seated for this & remain in them for the full 90 minutes?

Probably not given how shite our defense is.

So it's a shite Clyde defence v a clueless Queen's attack. 0-0 shitfest incoming. You heard it here first.

Any QP fan who posts the Davie Galt goal on here should be taking a good look at themselves.

The breath of fresh air that is Glasgow's New Force to beat the club chased out of the city for being pish 1-0. I'd be happy with that.

Clyde's Geriatric Green Street mob to get very agitated and to shout at kids for no reason.

Even better, wonder if Laurie Ellis could organise a one game loan deal for Davie with Darvel, and maybe even the same with StRoch's for Jamie Longworth. Both still playing.

We all enjoy keeping the back door shut and as satisfying as clean sheets are, it's goals we come to see. We have to start scoring more. Does anyone look like scoring apart from Murray? Even Murray manages to miss sitters (not digging him, he's the only scoring threat). We can beat this mob but attackers need to start taking responsibility.

Longstaff to start ahead of Lewis Moore. He is probably the slowest wide player/winger I've seen. Moore is incapable of keeping a shot under control. Regardless of how far out, it's going well over the bar.
