Edinburgh city Vs. Elgin City

Recommended Posts

A much better performance from City. Hopefully the people predicting the chop for Naysmith if they lost will feel a bit more optimistic after that. Danny Jardine looked good in the middle of the park and Innes Murray had a solid 70 minutes on debut. Elgin didn't offer much. Ouzy looks a bit lost up front on his own, can't recall him getting an effort in on goal.

Possibly the last Friday night game to start in warm sunshine for a while. A tip to all those there in their shorts n tees - bring a hat & scarf for later in the game. Ainslie Park has its own Siberian microclimate.

The challenge now is maintaining a run. Naysmith now has no excuses to hide behind, as we've won with bare squad and a short bench.

Certainly agree on the points with Ouzy and AP. The latter, in particular, seems to be dismissed by some in these parts. Good to see others agree!

Conceding after 10 seconds is inexcusable and from there it was always going to be tricky. After a dreadful first 15 or so, I actually thought we did all right for the rest of the half and missed some decent chances but at 2 down that's nowhere near enough. Embra were happy to let us have it deep but kept it as far from their goal as possible.

Second half we huffed and puffed but didn't create much, both teams could've scored a couple on another day but it was pretty uneventful.

Edinburgh weren't as bad as advertised and really seem to have our number. Innes Murray should be a good signing.

We certainly missed Soapy and even MacEwan. Really surprised Gav started with that midfield two, they struggled to find a team mate time and time again.

Thought we were much much better on Friday night. Looked like the team had a bit of balance to it, Innes Murray's aggression in centre mid was a real boost and coincided with a hugely improved performance from Danny Jardine.

Still not enough goal threat in the team (admittedly Robertson and Shanley were out) but much more like it.

Still not sure how I feel about Fridays but it is nice having a 'free' weekend with 3 points in the bag. I do wonder if it'll be a significant advantage for us over the course of the season? Probably hard to tell but interesting nonetheless
