Paisley Saints v Perth Saints

Recommended Posts

Today another fine example of the fairly major drop off in quality between our starting attack and what's behind it. Since Middleton and Kane have come on we've actually looked like scoring.

No real worries after that performance, if we can improve our quality in depth. The past month has been brutal in terms of recovery time between matches so coming out the other side in mid-table is fine.

St Mirren really are just a shite version of us.

Our discipline is terrible. Tired and lazy from Erhahon, getting caught in possession and making a stupid foul. No complaints with the red card. We should've been ahead in the game, then end up finishing by hanging on for a point.

Why does Middleton not start more for St Johnstone? Always seems to make a difference when he comes on. We don't have anyone who can come on and change a game.

He generally does, just rotation after Thursday night.

Cammy McPherson, Ryan Flynn?

If McPherson, Flynn or Erahaon are playing the majority of our games as starting central midfielders we're going to struggle this season.

All are alright as rotation pieces, but none are someone you want as a starter.

Is that Tanser getting ragdolled by Rooney every few minutes?

I thought Tanser faired up pretty well, gave his fair share back to him.

Draw was probably fair, Perth Saints finished much stronger. Both keepers pulled off some good saves, nearly every striker on the park looked as if they could play all day and not score.

Annoyingly if the ref used the same logic for McCann he'd have been off about 20 minutes previously but we'd only have huffed and puffed to fire a blank anyway.

May and Hendry are done, they hold us back massively.  Soon as they went off we were different side, crossbar away from sneaking away with a win but it was just nice to have a few coherent attacks to be honest.  That passage of play when May was played through was brutal.

He does. Booth, Davidson, Middleton, and Kane, were all missing from the starting line up presumably because they've all pretty much played 4 games in the last 14 days.

Kerr, McCart, and McCann just played their 5th game in 14 days.

Absolutely, Flynn has class but no legs and the other 2 have legs but no class.

Draw probably about right in the end. Thought we started the second half stronger but saintees certainly ended it stronger.
Positives are we defended well for the most part, good to get a first clean sheet of the season. Alnwick looked back to his normal self too. Never really offered enough going forward though. Thought McGrath was quiet and in that kind of system it needs to be him linking the midfield and attack and he never really got into it at all.
Like our other two league games against non OF opposition this season it was another tight affair. Going to be a season of thin margins, lots of draws and games being won and lost by a single goal. Much like last season I suppose.
