The road to Wembley started last night with 4 games in the Extra Preliminary Round with another 167 today and 3 on Sunday. There are 7 clubs from tier 10 with 20 tier 8 and the rest tier 9. One of the tier 10 sides already through as Kensington & Ealing Borough won 3-1 away to tier 9 New Salamis  (Att: 95). Never knew there was a St Panteleimon let alone a football team.  They were promoted from the Spartan League to the Combined Counties League but lost 4-2 away to fellow Tier 9 West Essex.  Macclesfield FC (9) the reborn Macclesfield Town play their first home tie against Burscough (9). Just a pity there wasn’t a Remus to face Romulus (9) so they have to make do with a visit from Uttoxeter Town (9). Will Leicester Nirvana (9) have a feeling of utopia if they defeat visitors Deeping Rangers (9). Bugbrooke St Michaels (9) v March Town United (9), Godmanchester Rovers (9) v Northampton ON Chenecks (9), Roman Glass St George (9) v Holmer Green (9) are just a few of the ties involving clubs with interesting names. Doesn’t look as though the BBC streaming anything from this round.

As usual I forgot to do anything about making arrangements to go to the earliest tie possible.

I have been to Roman Glass St George though, and Macclesfield.

Preliminary Round is listed for Saturday 21 August but there will no doubt be games on the Friday and Sunday plus think replays still exist.

We're supposed to be going away for the weekend and I'm trying to steer her in some particular directions... "Never heard of Marske, oh it's lovely...I hear they've done a lot of work to improve Scarborough, sounds nice..."

Just turned over for the lunchtime game and it's James McFadden on co-commentary duty. Looking forward to finding out his extensive knowledge of both sides.
