Priority for the final venue was given to the clubs who took part in the competition. Kilwinning were the only club who took part who applied to host the final.

Fair enough but a Friday night when Killie as playing in a season defining game?!

It is not a criticism, I must be exceptionally difficult to arrange fixtures.

I am just disappointed that having seen so many games won't see the final.

I doubt that the Killie game will have any impact on the attendance.

Nice how this has worked out with the two teams in the final having finished in 2nd place in their respective conferences and just missing out on promotion, now having a cup final to look forward to. All the best to both on the 22nd.
And a potential place in the Scottish Cup.

Drumchapel 13-1 winners over Nithsdale means they qualify for the Scottish Cup.

Wonder if any current SJFA clubs would consider giving up their membership to enter the Strathclyde Cup next season? No Drum, Buffs, or Rutherglen - four games to win for a crack at a likely tier 7 EOS team and poorer SOS club - with a Scottish Cup place the big prize.

No confirmation yet that Rutherglen Glencairn won't be in it.

Why would teams who played in it this season pull out of next seasons?

It is only open to clubs who are not playing in the Scottish Cup or Junior Cup - so Drumchapel as winners and Kilwinning and Rutherglen (subject to both being licensed) won't be in it.

Do Drumchapel United get to play in this next season? There's only been a handful of occasions that the Cup Winners Shield has been used as a qualifying spot for the Scottish Cup. Everytime won by the EoS Alex Jack Cup winner and they were ruled out of competing in the AJC the following season as the Scottish & AJC dates were the same. Although not sure if it's more of a rule that precludes a Scottish Cup participant from competiting in the same season's qualifier.

The Strathclyde Cup doesn't have the clash problem as they used different dates from the Scottish Cup. Which had me wondering.

No Drumchapel, possibly no Kilwinning & Rutherglen due to pending SFA applications. The Strathclyde Cup would be even more open.

As described in the EOS fixture list:

"The Alex Jack Cup for member clubs of the East of Scotland FA which are not participating in the Scottish Cup or any other tournament whose winners qualify for the Scottish Cup"

I would assume the Strathclyde Cup will be the same as the entire point of this cup is for those not in the Scottish or Junior cups? @glensmad

From the competition rules :-

"3. This competition shall be played by member clubs that are not full members of the Scottish Football Association, nor in membership of the Scottish Junior Football Association.

4. The competitions shall be played on an annual basis and it shall be mandatory for all eligible member clubs of the League to participate."

On that basis, Drumchapel United will be playing in the competition again next season.
