Inverness vs Raith Rovers

Well no, Zanatta has played for half the SPFL. Lumping Duku in the same category is daft. He’s literally done it at one Scottish club.

…and every other English club he’s played for, per their fans.

Duku is living in Kirkcaldy minds rent free it seems. Pleasing.
I don't really have a problem with duku. He was a bit of a tit on twitter last week and I don't know what actually happened that he seemed to chuck it while at us, but he looked a very good player for the first couple of months here. Tx is right in saying we were told that would happen by fans of his previous clubs though. It will be interesting to see if he continues that trend with you.

Will be interesting to see if he repeats the trend with us. We tend to get the best out of this sort of player but time will tell.

Hope James Keatings can kick on and have a good season for you, there’s a good player in there if he can stay fit.

I'm probably in the minority but I'd like to see duku prove he isn't a waste of a Jersey after a good start to a season. He scored some important goals for us early on last season.
Iv been impressed with macgregor the past few times iv seen him play for you. He made a big difference to the flow of the game and scored a beauty. I quickly went from ffs to that was a fine strike as it happened.

I'd like to see keatings do well but I didn't think he was a good signing for us. If Vaughan is fit then he plays instead of keatings. I haven't seen anyone better in that role than Vaughan, in this league, since we came up. If they can just take it in turns being injured and never at the same time, we might be on to something there though...

This “Keatings is a good player” is a bit of a myth and he still lives off of his time at Hamilton and Hearts. Technically he is good but he is nothing more than average as he doesn’t make an impact on games. He will give you flashes of very good moments and score a few goals but the majority of the time he you barely notice he is on the pitch.

Yep, there's no way on earth he starts ahead of Vaughan.  That said, I always had Keatings down as a striker and not a Number 10/attacking midfielder.

Yeah, I would have liked to see him get a run of games as a striker as well. Still not convinced it would have made much difference.

I was talking to someone about Keatings recently and the way I described him was that he was 'almost a good player'.  On a technical level he's pretty good and every now and then looks a real player but most of the time he's just a passenger.  Some of our fans expectations of him when he signed for us were wild - people seemed to think he was going to score 20+ goals in his first season but that was never going happen.  He never played wide for us like he did elsewhere but he didn't look anything special either up-front or as a 10.  Maybe he would be better suited to a defensive midfielder role given his lack of pace.

As he was in the last couple of games against us last season, too.

I've already resigned myself to bids being accepted for him next summer.  Probably from Ross County.

Yeah, I think he's a player who can be a good component in a successful side at this level, as he has been in the past for Accies and Hearts.  If you look at those sides then he contributed goals alongside a few others - Zeefuik, Sow and Walker for Hearts, Antoine Curier, ANdreu and Jason Scotland for Accies.  He isn't the player who is going to shoot you to the title and I think that's what some of our fans thought he was going to be.

Also, as you say, in terms of his position he's a general forward, he doesn't seem specialised as a goalscoring centre forward or a deeper playmaker number 10 or a wide player.  That can be an advantage to him as he can cover different roles but I think it makes it hard for him to really be a vital player.

Accies and Hearts fans might need to correct me on this, maybe he was absolutely central to their titles, I can't claim any real knowledge of those teams, that's just how it appears to me.

As a final thought on the game, I thought Dave Carson was superb.

I think he struggled against Zanatta a few times in the game but he was still decent overall. Deas at LB was even better and arguably MotM. He completely shut down his side of the pitch. Far, far better than Harper who, although good going forward, is pretty suspect when defending. I think we can expect to sea Deas there for a while yet.

Raith were pretty good but I think we just about deserved the win. Felt like at times they were content to sit in and try and hit on the break but we seemed to marshall this threat well. Not much between the sides admittedly and I thought it was a pretty entertaining game. Some hit by MacGregor. He's done that before (against QotS) getting over the ball to really control  the shot. I'm surprised we didn't have more teams after him in the summer.

Jamie MacDonald, as mentioned above, is a top guy. Always takes the "abuse" over his SC final error with good humour.

I reckon Mr Allan and Mr MacKay at Hibs will be having a word with their manager.

I spoke to Keatings last Fri and asked him why he made the move to RR and his answer was that he wanted to be nearer home.

That's a fair post. Sitting in and hitting on the break isn't really our style but a) I think McGlynn shored up the defence with an extra CD to steady the ship after the Accies debacle and b) because we didnt have Spencer who is key to our attacking play. We would have played our usual open game otherwise.

Ah yes, let’s play our best centre half at left back and leave our biggest prospect on the bench to accommodate Kirk Broadfoot. Brilliant idea. (Admittedly it’s worked so far but only so long Broadfoots mistakes will go unpunished)

I would far rather have Deas at CB and Harper at LB (provided he was more switched on defensively). But, as bizarre as it is to say, right now we are looking better defensively with a midfielder and CB at RB and LB respectively even with Broadfoot in the side. There are still brain farts in the defence but compared to the shambles of a performance against Cove and the shakiness we saw against Stirling Albion I can't see why Dodds would want to change things right now even if this isn't likely to be our long term defensive setup.
