Seen buffs tweet , McGowan refused to play today shocking if true

Worth a wee look on Twitter as Syme,Miller,Morrison and the other Darvel mercenaries/neds having a go at Buffs media for stating the fact "Chris McGowan opts to sit out ahead of a move to rival club". Personally I think the comment is very reserved and simply states the facts as they stand.

The tweet from the club was factually correct so I'm not sure why Syme had an issue with it or what point he was trying to make.

McGowan chose not to play against Darvel last week for the same reason. Slightly unprofessional.

Well he won’t play ahead of Jordan Allan. Unless Allan is moving elsewhere.
Totally agree and am starting 2 think darvel only signed him to stop him from signing for us and making us better for next season cos they probably thought its talbot league plus they signed truesdale fae rob roy aswell after he agreed 2 sign for us.

Mon the papers.

It harks back to the Meadow money days when they signed anybody Tucker was interested in and had them sitting in the stand.

Unprofessional is being very kind. Syme has had how many clubs in his short career? Obviously not motivated by loyalty to any particular club. Jumps in with 2 feet after McGowan criticised Buffs media man for basically doing his job and informing fans, calling it an act of jealousy which is bizarre in the extreme.

Other Darvel players and management joined in the fun on Twitter and once again showing their lack of class as a club. As I posted elsewhere, if they win the playoffs the overall interest in them will undoubtedly die down as instead of playing Talbot, Clydebank, Pollok and Buffs, they get to play Caledonian Braves, Broomhill and Civil Service Strollers. Nobody will be interested in them apart from their newly found 300 fan base, there will be no other clubs to feed off of. I genuinely have no ill will towards Darvel as a club, but honestly suspect that this season is as good as it's ever going to get for them, there's no growth or sustainability in what they are doing.

WOS Quarter Final

Thorniewood 0 Buffs 0 (Buffs win 4-3 on penalties)

Buffs rolled up to Uddingston/Tannochside with 11 players and a caretaker manager. As it turned out, most of the controversy was in social media rather than on the park.

Both teams struggled to get to grips with the bumpy park, the grass longer than either team would have liked. Passing football was scarce as the ball bobbled all over the place with a mind of it's own.

The referee and match officials caused consternation to both teams and management over the course of the game, the referee in particular engaging with both benches and even the fans at times, more fun than some of the football on display. To be fair both teams put in the effort, but nothing much was coming off in the way of entertainment.

The only real moment of note was a penalty for handball midway through the second half. Collins stepped up for Buffs and smashed the ball off the top of the crossbar.

Penalties it was and Harry Broun the young Buffs keeper saved 2 kicks to take the Buffs into the semi final against Darvel at Buffs Park. Good to see the youngster putting in a match winning performance.

Commiserations to Thorniewood who can be proud of their efforts and to the club who were very welcoming to those travelling from Ayrshire. Good luck to Thorniewood next season.

Onwards and upwards for Buffs, a game to look forward to in June, who would have thought it? Will we have a team to put out, who knows? A season like no other.

Maybe McGowan wants to enlighten everyone as to the reason why he didn’t want to play. All he has done is invite a pile on from the usual Darvel mouthpieces. The fact the manager chooses to get involved shows a lot of class.

Ultimately the Buffs gave these boys a platform to move on to what they perceive to be better things, however far better players have played for and left The Buffs, and ultimately would they ever be in The Buffs best XI!

Would be good to hear his point of view because he hasn't expressed it. At the end of the day it doesn't really matter though. He's been well looked after at the Buffs, he isn't the first player and won't be the last to leave under a cloud. Buffs will survive without Mr McGowan.

If they’ve signed Truesdale then why is there all these rumours that they’ve signed Matty Grant? :D

Rumours are rumours but surprised about three players in each position. Are squads still capped at 25 senior players?

The boy Syme is showing his class as usual. Everyone i spoke to up at kilwinning a few months ago were delighted to get rid of him. He’s a known bully who used to bully as many of his team mates as he could especially the youth and looks like he’s trying the same tactic with the media man up there.

All quite bizarre. It’s not exactly news that he is going elsewhere. Buffs provide a reason why he isn’t playing, which nobody really bothers about, and he decides to take offence accusing people of jealousy. I am sure he will be able to clear the matter up, by explaining why he wasn’t playing, and what his half of the story is.

Wish the boy well wherever he ends up.
