Hard to disagree, a day to forget for us but it was a bit of a free hit for us anyway. It's all about staying out of the bottom seven for us, that would be a big achievement given the financial resources we have relative to other clubs in the league.

I was very impressed by Buffs Park. emoji106.png That was our first visit as a WoSFL club, in fact our only previous visit was on the last ever day of West Region SJFA matches. I remember Colin and Danny telling us all about the plans that afternoon and it was great to see a lot of it done on our return. The pitch was in great nick as well, given the horrendous weather. emoji106.png

Thanks for your kind words. Great credit to the Buffs committee for progress made over the last couple of years. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Largs Thistle 2 Kilwinning 2

THE proverbial game of 2 halves.

Weather was kind for this one, Buffs opened the scoring early on with a Woods header from a set piece.

Playing some good stuff, a low Millar cross into the box was met be Stuart who knocked the ball past an unsighted keeper to make it 2.

Shortly afterwards Largs were reduced to 10 men with a straight red for an off the ball incident.

Following half time Largs got a quick goal back to make it 2 1. A great take on the touchline by the Largs no 9 took the Buffs full back out of the game, his low cross into the box was hammered home to make it 2 2.

Largs continued to dominate and were unlucky not to get a 3rd goal. Buffs Woods was shown the second straight red of the game for a last man challenge to even it up at 10 men apiece.

Buffs finally got going last 5 minutes and might well have won it right at the death. A draw a fair result in the end.

Rob Roy up next on Wednesday night. Buffs will need to remember that the game lasts 90 minutes.

The woods red was on the halfway line with atleast three buffs players behind him 🤦‍♂️

Never a red in a million years. Done it right in front of the ref who lost his nerve with the first red.

The Kilwinning red is a kick/trip but not enough for violent conduct IMO, it's hardly attempting to use/using excessive force or brutality, so should've been yellow (it wasn't DOGSO either).

Buffs 1 KRR 1

Both sides scored from corners, KRR off a knee first half, Buffs with a Syme heafer second half, both playing into the wind.

Whilst the windy conditions didn't help either side, KRR dominated the whole game and can feel aggrieved that they found Jamie Barclay in top form in Buffs goal, pulling off save after save. No doubt that Buffs must do better.

Beith at Bellsdale up next this Saturday if the game survives the weather.

Beith 1 Buffs 0

A scrappy affair settled by a goal from Beith forward Fowler a minute from the end.

Buffs huffed and puffed, had good possession particularly in the wide areas, but had little end product to show for it.

Both teams will probably play better, but Beith will be happy with the 3 points.

Buffs move on to the next one.

Has Chris Sttrain been given the boot ??????

Do Buffs fans think he has took you as far as he can and it’s rime for someone to take over and take the club to the next level which is challenging for the title and getting into the Lowland League.

The ground and infrastructure looks to be in place. Buffs fans must be a bit disappointed with the way the season has panned out.

Nothing could be further from the truth. On the park the club is performing to it's level at the moment. It's all about gearing up off the park at the moment. Once that's complete, logically more can be spent on the playing staff. Buffs have a strategy to get into the Lowland league and beyond, not an unrealistic target for a town the size of Kilwinning.

Whilst results could be better right now, Chris is doing a good job. Its a young team lacking a bit of experience and player turnover is more than we would like, but on our day we play some nice stuff and having beaten Talbot, Darvel and Clydebank we are more than a match for any one. The future is bright.

As long as it’s only one promotion via a playoff the games a bogey, fans should forget about holding managers accountable surrounding promotion until the bottle neck is sorted imo.

Heard at the game on Friday about Syme. Supposedly Darvel have been tapping him up for months and caused the club and player to become unsettled. Offered him a significant increase in wages behind the buffs back and don't want to pay the transfer fee. Really horrible tactics from Darvel here, hope they lose out on him now as hearing 2 SPFL clubs and Talbot seriously interested.

If true, this mirrors the behaviour that Darvel exhibited with Ford's Lewis Morrison. It's not a good look at all at this level of football.

Syme has been Buffs best player this season and, if he goes, he'll be a huge loss to the club.

Might as well just chuck all sporting integrity out of the window if a club can hoover up other club's best players during the  business end of the season, albeit Buffs aren't in competition for title or threatened with relegation this particular season.

Heard Syme is up for transfer, always thought he was a good player, who gave his all for the jersey

He is a very good player, capable of playing at a higher level, always gives his all too.

Won't get in the Talbot team imo

Clearly had his head turned. I can't really blame players at this level for wanting to chase the money - I don't imagine I'd be any different. He'll be a big loss if he goes though.

Re Strain - Buffs are sitting 4th in a very competitive league and with a squad which has quite clearly been sacrificed for the ground upgrades. They've done far better than I expected this season tbh. But as Killiepiyo says - the sole promotion spot means that only one club will have a successful season. It needs at least doubled.
