If Banks of dee then why not Highland League colts teams as well? and why not Premier league colts teams in the lower leagues? It surely risks killing off smaller clubs with long histories

I'm not a huge fan of reserve teams playing in the same structures as first teams, but I have to be pragmatic. If it's going to happen, then they should enter at the bottom of the pyramid. Several junior clubs already run teams in the amateur leagues and there's historically been reserve/second XI clubs within the junior leagues.

If it has to happen then yes I agree they should go in a the bottom of the pyramid, but why must it happen? what purpose does it serve and do these purposes outweigh the negatives

Lossiemouth United have announced they are returning for next season, having been accepted back into the North Region.

That's weird. Social media driven Elgin United haven't given any sort of update. Maybe it's past the manager's bedtime :)

Thinking on it. This was probably the league AGM. Doesn't seem like any news on Buckie Rovers and Spey Valley United coming out of abeyance.

Last thing I heard Buckie Rovers still hadn't got a committee together so were taking another year out. Not heard anything about SVU, although was passing through Cromdale the other weekend and the pitch looks in decent nick. The Strathspey & Badenoch League has returned this summer so the Cromdale welfare side has been playing there.

Will there be two or three leagues next season? Saw it listed as two here: http://scotscores.theroonba.com/clubrank/clubranknr1.html

Two leagues. They're going to a Premier and Championship format. For the first season the Premier will be 14 teams which will be 2nd-13th this season plus Stonehaven & Stoneywood Parkvale. That I believe leaves 18 for the Championship with Lossiemouth United added.

In the second season they will balance it out with 16-??

I'd like to say I'm surprised, but this felt very inevitable. I'm not sure why the folk involved feel the need to set up a new club (other than ego) when there are plenty of local clubs who would welcome new blood onto committees and players into squads.

Of all the places to do it... why Elgin? Already covered by a SPFL and North region team and Moray has more clubs per capita than any other council area (I think?)

Because the kid that was to be future manager lives in Elgin. As pointed out above if he really wanted to get involved, New Elgin are right there and he could have put his social media skills behind them.

This is just some random vanity project.
