Bridge of Don Thistle have longer term plans to build a stadium as part of a 1,000 or so new housing scheme in Bridge of Don. Not sure how long that will take to come round though.

From what I've heard, it sounds more likely it's going to be a grass pitch-in-a-cage like Stoneywood ended up with after the developers built on Polo Park.

Montrose Roselea would struggle to compete in a town of 12,500 with a Senior Club as they do already as being the little team. To try and go to the HL with the added travel just wouldnt make sense even though there could be some extra revenue from the HL? Not even sure what that would amount to?? Angus seems to be an anomoly in Scottish Football where you have Senior and Junior clubs on each other doorsteps. Arbroath & Brechin Vics, Forfar West End and United all competing with bigger Senior clubs. Having looked around the old Juniors there are not many if none who compete in the same way all over the country Senior and Junior wise in towns and not cities. Could be argued however that the Highland League is splattered with the same, Keith, Inverurie, Banff, Elgin, Forres, Nairn, Peterhead and Fraserburgh all in the same boat to name a few. You would struggle to have two Highland League Teams in these places. Its all about survival and you cant rely on sugar daddies. I would say that a lot of Junior clubs deserve a big pat on the back these days for even surviving as we know how hard it is when you are living in the shadow  of a bigger club.

There are no junior clubs any more.

The north region and the Midlands League (the east region) are both still affiliated in the first instance to the SJFA rather than the SFA so that's not strictly accurate. Why anybody still cares about the whole junior vs senior distinction at this point is another matter entirely though. It should all just be one pyramid but that would mean fewer blazers so it won't happen overnight. Think having an SPFL and an HL club in the same town is a significantly different scenario from some of the other possibilities where it would be two HL clubs but can understand why it's not something that's high on the agenda right now.

They are part of the senior pyramid, though, so can't really be juniors either.

I'm not really bothered one way or the other, I just think the term "junior" is obsolescent and should only be used in an Historical context.

Obviously some disagree...

Give it a few years and other than a handful of die-hard traditionalists, the whole "divide" will have been forgotten about.

BOD were 2-0 down after an hour against Deveronside and won 6-2.

3rd to 1st in one game, now 6 games in hand on 2nd (4 and a point on 3rd). Require 30 points (29 with the GD) from a possible 42 to secure the title.

Aye it’s very hard to see anyone getting near them now.

North Pussies folding to Scotgov and postponing all fixtures.

Hope the HL don't follow suit..

Postponed
The North Region Management Committee have taken the decision to cancel all fixtures for this weekend in light of the ongoing concerns regarding the spread of the new Covid variant across the region.

Although this decision has not been taken lightly this is based on the fact that we a number of teams travelling across the region and although Clubs will be carrying out Covid protocols to minimise the risk we have a duty of care to all our members, their families and our communities especially at this time of year and with the new rules with regards a 10 day isolation period if anyone in a family tests positive then this would have a big impact on Christmas family plans which is only a week away.

We feel as a Committee we do not want to take the risk and want to try and minimise any opportunities and help with the reduction of the spread of Covid in our region.

All games will be rescheduled accordingly and we hope to resume as planned on 8th January.

We wish all our members a very merry festive period and hope everyone keeps safe.

^^^I'll second that

Found this snippet from the P&J interesting:

...“To be honest, I don’t know a lot about it (the potential play-off to reach the Highland League), we just play football.

“If that is the case and there is a chance to go up, then I’m sure all the boys will be relishing that. It’s something the boys want to do. We’ve got a taste over the years of playing Highland League teams and we always seem to up our game for those teams...

Banks o Dee player didn't know about the promotion playoff when interviewed a few days ago.

I see that BOD thrashed Culter 6-0 last night, putting them 13 points away from a place in the Highland League play-off (really 12 points due to the goal difference).

Their last league game is scheduled for 2nd April (with a cup semi+final possibly to come), wonder how long they will be waiting while the others finish off their season!
