BoS/Lloyds was on the way under. Bailed out by Government. That's yer taxpayer's money. About a third public owned. Killie owed a debt which the bank deemed unlikely to be repaid, so wrote it off. This was the bank's money. ..and it was less than 10m. Not 13m. If you want to continue to pretend the taxpayer still has any connection to this money*, it would be about 3m. Also, I am in no way better than that. Whatever that is. *Which we obviously didn't. Privatising profit, socialising debt. That's the neo-liberal way. Thanks for clearing that up, heck of a state to whip yourself into just to get there. I was kind of hoping you'd say something along the lines of "the allegation I made had no foundation in fact regarding the source of the money, the writing off of the debt, the level of initial taxpayer involvement, or the actual amount of the debt", but that's obviously too much to hope for.

There was obviously a market for such an abomination - or at least a belief there was a demand. Thje perception that you've got more than a few busfare-less currants in your support is not an unfounded one. I'm not having a go at the club, simply pointing out that some of your fans have an attraction to a certain "big team". We're fortunate in that our "big team" is Killie. Some bloke’s belief that there was a demand for something is not proof that the demand was there. You’re not really getting the economics thing, are you?

I didn't actually mention anything about the amount of the debt (I'll refrain from any comprehension jibes) only that the club owed some to the tax payer, which you pointed out is more like £3m rather than the full £9m-£13m figure bandied around depending on who's talking or where it was written. So we've basically met in the middle, glad we got there in the end!

Sortmeout
Pretty gutted that Celtic are having a bad time which means we need to put up with @WhiteRoseKillie on the Kilmarnock threads again. As for the 50/50 scarves, I’m pretty sure @North British will have bought one at the time.
Coooombe
Some amount of head loss in this thread. FWIW I think this will be a draw. Ayr will wind us up about it for a while, and the killie fan base will blow their collective gasket. This has shades of the cup game a few years ago for me, its a massive game for a completely new team to be playing in.

The scarves came about because David Murray thought it would be a good idea. He approached the club and whatever fucktard it was at the club agreed. One would assume the fucktard in question was Bill Barr as he controlled everything, A grand total of seven were sold and were eventually taken down due to the backlash from every Ayr supporter that visited the shop. So who is lying here you or other Ayr fans who said the club were not involved at all? Honest Men indeed.

It was for sale in the club shop. That is a fact. AYRSHIRE_ANGUS
When asked by someone they've not met before, I suspect Rangers fans in Ayr will tend to play the neutral card and say they support Ayr United in case revealing their actual team meets with an uncivilised reaction. Then, once they've established that they actually support the same team, the Ayr United chat soon gets dropped. We all know loads of these types that turn up for the big games. It will be the same at the home derby.
