A condition of the sale was that Abramovic wasn't going to call in his loans (around £1.5 billion) and wouldn't get any proceeds from the sale but according to some of the bidders they've been told that a company based in Jersey that is linked to Abramovic is wanting paid that amount which would be in breach of the terms of his sanctions. If that can't be squared up, Chelsea in theory can't be sold. Fingers crossed!

If that can't be squared up, Chelsea in theory can't be sold. Fingers crossed! Abramovich says that he can't write off any debt due to being sanctioned. So it might be something like the Jersey company is a bank who gave the actual money to Chelsea secure against Abramovich assets held in Jersey. Obviously the bank can't get their money from sanctioned Abramovich so will pursue getting the money from Chelsea that they may be legally entitled to. So it seems either the govt let Abramovich settle with the Jersey company or the Jersey company is paid the money owed in any sale. It seems the reason this has scuppered the deal is that the govt were going to allow the buyers to write off the sale as a charitable donation.
throbber
Ragnick already talking about how the board immediately dismissed his intentions to sign Luis Diaz and a couple other players is already looking ominous for the new set up.
HeartsOfficialMoaner
Chelsea have agreed terms on the £4.25bn ($5.2bn) sale of the club to a consortium led by Todd Boehly, co-owner of the LA Dodgers baseball team. Chelsea said the sale was expected to complete in late May. The takeover will require approval from the English football authorities and the UK government. https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2022/05/06/club-statement Edited May 7, 2022 by HeartsOfficialMoaner add link
19QOS19
It's because he's an England international. That's enough to trigger the Tartan Army oddballs of P&B.Nah he looks like a complete dickhead of a guy and behaves as such on the pitch. I'd say the same if he was Spanish. The vast majority of England Internationalists I have no issue with tbh.

United would have ruined Diaz anyway, no way would they have seen the Liverpool version.... Maybe when Ten Hag came in.
Jim McLean's Ghost
I was going to post about Chelsea bottling the CL places but looked at their fixtures and decided it wasn;t going to happen. But after conceding in the 97th minute today it could happen if they have completely chucked it.
