Bishop Briggs
It looked like Dier rugby tackled Azpilicueta in the box. Surprised that VAR totally ignored it.
Savage Henry
Am I the only one - albeit based on one Twitter clip - that thinks it was a penalty for Liverpool? Edited January 23, 2022 by Savage Henry

Why does Jota's right foot move to the right in that clip? It isn't to play the ball, it is to kick it into the keeper and manufacture contact.

No. There’s 2 other people who thought the same, worryingly they were the ones that mattered. Curious what you think the foul is? Hopefully at least explain the madness, if not excuse it.
buchan30
The same folk who are saying it was never a foul or a push are the same ones who, had it been the other way around that “kane felt contact and was entitled to go down”

It is how it's used and who takes ultimate responsibility that's the issue. It looks like the referee's authority is undermined, and the attitude needs to change, rather than abandon the technology. Totally agree. The VAR system is great in theory, just badly implemented. It's ridiculous that the opinion of the person with the best view of a situation, the actual video assistant referee, isn't immediately accepted and this pantomime of the referee going to the screen is played out. They accept the word of their on field assistant refs, which was up to four people for a while not so long ago, without the benefit of replays so why not the one with the best view of them all? Lets not forget they are a third assistant referee, just one in a TV studio, not on the touchline. They'll make mistakes on subjective decisions but you'll never eradicate that so surely a method that reduces them is the best option. It's 2022. Refs are faced with 22 professional cheats out to con them whenever possible while doing anything they can to win. It's not 22 gentlemen playing a game of soccer on the common any more no matter how much the FA want it to be.
