Johnstone v Maryhill was a decent game, difference was the Maryhill keeper. Few big saves from him. Both sides had periods on top where the other had drifted out of it, probably sapped by the heat.

Must have had same players missing through preseason and first three games as they’re team selection has been pretty consistent throughout.

It was considered Grierson done them a wrong turn in the manner in which he left, took the team to Saltcoats and then left them weeks later.

Talking to a Vics supporter/ committee member yesterday at the game. He said the were missing the kerr brothers, ogston, henderson, dempster and young boy baird. According to him 1st 5 are all guaranteed starters

Johnstone v Maybole was a decent game, very little in it. If anything Maybole looked the slightly stronger team, difference came in the second half after Johnstone scored.

The Maybole players had a few heeds gone moments including a bizarre yellow card, where the Johnstone keeper took his time to collect the ball to run the clock down. Maybole striker then inexplicably decided to rush in and shoulder barge him to the ground.

All in all hard fought points and Johnstone will be happy to have all three points as it could have gone either way.

Maybole are massively underachieving. Great setup and big wages getting paid but don’t seem to have clicked yet. Expected them to be challenging for the title this season

They probably could have snatched a draw late on if they had kept their heads, they were clearly a stronger team but Johnstone were too well drilled for them and absolutely drew them into it to run down time. The Johnstone goal was an excellent piece of place followed by a well taken shot, as good a goal as you'll see anywhere.
