Arabdownunder
More punditry which hasn't aged well Quote It could turn into a chess match against Italy and Southgate is the best chess player going. Whatever the opposition throw at England, Southgate can turn around, get the playbook out and see who he can use to counteract it – that is what this squad is all about. They are constantly nullifying opposition strengths and maximising opposition weaknesses. Sometimes managers can freeze in moments and not make a decision but Southgate is always reactive and decisive regardless of the situation.
19QOS19
Apologies if this has been posted already - report on the BBC that I think covers it very well. It's worth comparing with other major finals that have featured the host country, in France (three times since 1984) and Portugal. There were no scenes like this at all. Decent report that. I wonder, had England won, if this would have been brushed under the carpet...

Sorry for linking the Sun. How petty is that? Imagine ignoring the wreckage and risk to human life outside and taking photos of some empties and discarded flip flops. No surprise though.
mizfit
Of course it would’ve been swept under the carpet. The scenes were all over social media from 3pm. Sky Sports we’re actively stating it was a jovial atmosphere with no issues or trouble. At that same point I’m watching a video of someone with a flare up his arse and another of someone punching a steward. Even the morning after they were insistent it was a small number of people, and that it couldn’t have been prevented. There was not a spare seat in Wembley outside of the Italian bubble. The staircases were rammed and people were allegedly hanging out of the entrances to the concourses watching. The FA and the Met police fucked this, hearing stories of stewards being paid off by people to turn a blind eye is absolutely mental as well.
101
In an age when England players seem to be so switched on and have a great moral compass, this strikes me as odd and hardly in keeping with the great team spirit they seem to have. The Sun has gone after his teammates for as long as they have played for England, they even broke the story of him getting lifted in the summer there. It's difficult to comprehend how think he has to be to then sell a story to the sun. That said having the story as a front page is hardly going to help their world cup bid.

TheScarf
Can FIFA/UEFA 'ban' countries from hosting tournaments? I mean, can they come out and say 'England wont host a major tournament for 30 years' or something along those lines?

Are the majority of your fans right-wing brexiteer gammons? 'Do they love trying to cave each others heads in after 1 pint?' 'Do your media like to run stories slagging young, black footballers?' If the answer is Yes to all, sorry, not this time lads!

jimbaxters
Bit of a shift in tone but going back to viewing the misery from Sunday night, here’s another one. Looks like a street party with no hooligans so felt a wee bit sorry for them, just a wee bit. Especially love the big guy with the cake. https://youtu.be/CTZw-MFZcww

The fall out could have been miles worse In 1990 people went out on streets smashing up audi vw's etc There was trouble on every English high street Not far off an average Saturday night suppose

I don't quite understand how any of that team would willingly speak to The S*n considering the treatment of players like Sterling over the years. Were they not absolutely hanging Maguire himself out to dry after him having a boxing match in Greece? Can't work out if they are trying to save face for themselves but between this and Grealish's "I said I'd take a penalty" stuff it's making them look worse.
