Failed Statelet Premier League & Other Divisions 2021/22

Likewise@Jacksgranda, I know it’s largely only you and I following the NIFL but it’s good to keep up to date, right across board eh!? Maybe look to include coverage of the Intermediates & NIFL Women’s Premiership too next season?[emoji6]

Watched the highlights from the Premiership last night, some great goals (Ryan Curran’s second for Cliftonville the pick) but some ropy refereeing decisions in the same game, Glenavon’s disallowed equaliser, and also up at Ballymena. Larne’s second in particular, had big DJ spitting feathers. Easy to see why, it was a shocking call for me.

Couple of notable results in the League Cup & Antrim Shield tonight.

Linfield destroying PSNI at Windsor 11-0 !!![emoji15]
League 2 side Limavady United also through, surprise winners over Premiership Dungannon Swifts (3-2).

In the Antrim Shield - Championship Ballyclare Comrades go through to the Semi’s following a 6-5 win on penalties over Premiership Crusaders at Dixon Park. (The game itself finishing 2-2)

Championship Update - Ballinamallard comfortable winners in tonight’s game, easing past Institute 4-0. A good night for The Duck’s forward line. A brace for Josh McIllwaine, and a goal apiece for Jason McCartney and South African frontman BJ Banda.

3 different competitions on last night.

Cliftonville crush Portadown 4-0 at Solitude in the league to consolidate top spot.

Larne and Glentoran draw 1-1 at Inver to cut each others throats.

In the League Cup Dungannon Swifts exited at the Limavady Showgrounds, 3-2 to United in a minor shock.

Linfield ran riot in the same competition, thrashing the PSNI 11 (ELEVEN) - 0

And in the Co. Antrim Shield, Ballyclare pull off a major surprise, beating Crusaders in a penalty shoot out after the Crues came back from 2 down after only 6 minutes.

Larne Vs Crus’ in the Friday night game to look forward to @Jacksgranda this evening,

Just wondered what your thoughts were on Ian Baraclough’s contract extension??🤔

Just heard that on Radio Ulster, made a mental note to watch it, so will probably forget!

Not fussed one way or the other about Barraclough, tbh, but I suppose continuity is a good thing.

Larne 1 Crusaders 0, Larne's first home league win over Crusaders for 17 years, I think they just about deserved it, enjoyable watch.

I'll say one thing for David Jeffrey, he certainly talks up the Irish League!

Decent game despite a lack of goals, particularly first half. Larne probably just edging it for the points. Nice move for Lynch’s goal, but O’Neill’s gotta stop that!
Keeps things ticking over nicely at the top though.

Good to see Hoggy back between the sticks for Carrick and a decent point against The Bannsiders to halt the recent slide. Same can’t be said for my Championship tip Ballyclare Comrades slipping to another defeat, 2-3 away at Knockbreda.

Couple of surprise results this afternoon in the NIFL Championship, Ards losing 2-0 away at Dundela and Ballyclare now spoiling their decent start with a third successive defeat away at basement club Queens Uni. Leaders Newry win 2-0 at home to Ballinamallard and Welders back on track by the same margin at home to Institute, Michael McLellan with both goals for the East Belfast side.
Pleased with Carrick’s last gasp equaliser and a point at Portadown but will leave the rest of the Premiership update to@Jacksgranda. (Haven’t seen you post for a wee while pal, hope all”s well).

Great result for the National side last night, 0-0 against Italy, forcing the European Champions into a play off as Switzerland top the group. Excellent across the back, Ian Barraclough’s men haven’t conceded a goal at Windsor this campaign. Still lacking that bit of quality up front though, three gilt edged chances going begging in the 2nd half. Saville, Dallas and Washington all really should have scored, to clinch what could have been a truly memorable night. Plenty of positives to look forward to for the next Euro qualifiers though.

Impressive 3-1 home win for Coleraine Vs Larne in the Friday night game. The Bannsiders leapfrog the Inver Reds to move into 2nd Spot.

Big game at Windsor this afternoon with a huge opportunity for Cliftonville to show their true title credentials away at Champions Linfield.

In the Championship promotion contenders Ards continue on a poor run of recent form losing 1-2 at Clandeboye to Dergview last night.

NIFL League News in short, from Saturday 20th November

Linfield win the ‘big game’ of the day at Windsor defeating leaders Cliftonville 1-0, the crucial goal, a header just after the break from wee Jordan Stewart. Cru’s beaten by the same margin at home to The Glens.

Notable results in the Championship following last night’s surprise win for Dergview at Ards. Loughgall reclaim 2nd spot winning 2-0 away at the Brandywell against Institute.
Ballinamallard move up to third with a narrow 1-0 home win over ‘out of sorts’ Ballyclare. Newry City stay top winning away at Knockbreda, both their goals in a 2-0 Win coming AFTER they had been reduced to 10 men on the half hour following Ryan McGivern’s dismissal. Annagh United nudged out Welders in East Belfast in an entertaining 3-2 away win, Craig Taylor with the winner on 64 minutes.
Finally at the foot of the table, a point each for the bottom two at The Dub. Queens Uni 0 Dundela 0.

Glens win 3-0 at home in the Friday night game against Dungannon. The Swifts 3rd League game in six days though.
Pick of the games tomorrow in the NIFL Premiership, Coleraine at home to Cliftonville and perhaps Glenavon at home to Linfield.
In the Championship, Welders Vs Ballyclare looks decent, Ballinamallard at Loughgall and Ards at Institute for goals too.
Another promising weekend hopefully.
