Did you know the LOI started 100 years ago last Sunday? Great name for a ground, Pisser Dignam’s field. Better known as Dalymount Park.

Excellent, a good day all round for the ‘Phibsboro Village People’, unsurprising that the nickname didn’t stick though eh? [emoji846]

25/09 In the Championship, Ballyclare well beaten 3-0 at leaders Ards (on Friday night) , bottom club Dundela secure a decent away point at second place Newry. Welders nudge past Annagh United 1-0 at Tandragree Road. Institute the form team with 3 wins on the bounce. Things shaping up nicely, hopefully just as intriguing as the Premiership has started this term.

Interesting turn of events, presumably Limavady will take their place against Swifts in the next round?

Assuming Larne don't win their appeal, yes, I would think so.

Cliftonville squeeze past Warrenpoint Town at Solitude, 1-0, to remain top with 16 points from 6 games. Coleraine are second with 10 points from 6 after beating Ballymena 3-0 in their first home game of the season. Third are Crusaders with 10 from 5, after questioning Glentoran's title aspirations with a 3-0 win at the Oval. Fourth also on 10 points are Larne, played 5, held to a 0-0 draw in the East Antrim derby with Carrick, who also have 10 points from 6 and are fifth. Glentoran complete the top half, no doubt bitterly disappointed at yesterday's result, 9 from 5 for the Glens

Linfield are seventh - don't often get to write that - 8 points from 4, after a goalless draw at Mourneview. Glenavon eighth with 6 from 5, Dungannon had a splendid win at Shamrock Park, 4-1, to move to ninth with 3 points from 4. Tenth are Warrenpoint with 3 from 6, Ballymena are in the play off spot with 1 from 4, and Portadown are bottom with 1 from 6, after 5 straight defeats. Worrying times for the Ports.

It's noticeable that four of the bottom six have played only 4 or 5 games, but Warrenpoint and Portadown must be concerned to have both played 6 and only collected 4 points between them.

2 from 3 ain’t bad Gramps, the Blues easy winners at the Oval tonight though. Linfield will still be the team to beat to reach top spot.
Had a wee chat with a couple of pals this weekend (Carrick Rangers), if the season could end now we’d be happy. [emoji846]

Goals: 7 at Ballymena, 4-3 to the homesters - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/58723485, Swifts were twice 2 up

Bit of a stroll in the park for Linfield - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/58728712

Larne match must have been crap, no highlights for it...

Must admit I'm surprised at Glentoran losing two successive home matches by 3-0, even more so considering the opposition, certainly blows a bit of a hole in their title ambitions, although we've only played 5/6 games! Mick McDermott not happy with fans' reactions, apparently - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58728715

ETA: Tasty looking encounter on Friday, Linfield v Cliftonville, I wonder if it's on TV?

Think we mentioned a couple of weeks back that the Glens title challenge credentials would be tested in their final two league games of the month at the Oval (losing both 0-3 as you’ve noted).[emoji15]
Really hope the game at Windsor on Friday is televised (at least on the iPlayer), but nothing in the listings.[emoji853]

Decent finish (with a little help from the deflection) from wee Jordan Stewart, doubtful for the 2nd half though? Blues look the more dangerous, but Cliftonville certainly not out of this. Think the ref called correctly on both penalty decisions btw.

(ETA JS back out for the second 45)
