Scottish Cup 2021/22

Thought I'd see how the fixtures were looking terms of team rankings from: http://scotscores.theroonba.com/clubrank/clubrank.html

Some clear home/away favourites but other matches are too close to call so I've listed them as draw. I think the calculation for assigning points after each match takes into account home advantage, so for the close games the prediction should slightly favour the home side. Be interesting to see how accurate this is and if there's any upsets.

You've not seen Edinburgh City this season?

I've seen City but also Bo'ness United and I still have the fear...

I done this in the last round and put the figures into some elo calculator page that gave the odds of home/away/draw and there were a handful that it expected draws that ended up wins a few wins that ended up draws but it was spot on for the majority.

Don't see why Annan are not clear favourites at home to a team a couple of levels below them, ditto Cowden at home. It would be a fairly major upset for this stage of the competition if either lost.

Especially given Annan and Jeanfield have similarish records. Cowdenbeath are dogshit so you could make a case but nah

I'd say CSS have been boosted by their early season wins over Rangers B and Bonnyrigg Rose. Both OF B teams have an inflated status in the rankings as it includes SPFL Challenge Cup performances. Cowdenbeath haven't exactly helped themselves with only the one league win so far.

Jeanfield have had some decent cup results that keeps them a threat while having a middling league season.

A couple of levels below doesn't mean as much for League Two v non-league compared to further up the pyramid, as tier 6 EOS/WOS is mostly on a par with tier 5.

We've seen that two seasons ago with Cowdenbeath losing to Broxburn in a replay and Stenhousemuir losing to Penicuik. Annan lost to Formartine last season though as you say playing at home will make them favourites.

After a poor start you've only lost to Kelty in the league - have a bit of optimism!

We are due to get our revenge on Jeanfield having lost 2-1 to them.... In 1948. Crowd that day was 4600, would be surprised to see a tenth of that tomorrow! emoji16.png

To be fair that game was in Perth in the last 16 of the junior cup.

You will get over 500 tomorrow, id expect around 300 to 400 away fans. I do know a lot of Saints fans were not expecting any away allocation at Celtic Park so decided weeks ago to go to this game, partly on the basis Saints have not played Annan in a competitive game since you joined the league and want to tick off a new ground.

Both Cowdenbeath and Stenny (in particular) losing were major shocks though. You'd be as well saying that the Juniors were Championship standard because took a hilarious swording by Auchinleck.

Edinburgh City, Bonnyrigg Rose, Annan, and Stirling Albion are the four favourites I'll be chucking on the coupon today

Two ties I'm most interested in are Brora vs Albion and Stranraer vs Darvel

Hoping for a good day of cup action!
