That’ll happen at some level though. I think we need to stop talking about league and non league too.

There’s next to no difference from League 2 to the East and West Premier and it’ll be great when it eventually all joins up for all the clubs involved imo.

They talk about Non League in England, they sell a paper called Non League that covers the bottom to where the league starts, happily and informitavely.

Can't reallly see the issue with how the levels are framed and named, the issue is workable structures.

The decision should be taken away from individual leagues and the SFA should be making the decisions

Considering some of the actions of the SFA during PWG meetings I do always find this a funny take.

Just look at the pyramid in the Highlands. They punted on it and left it up to the SJFA and Highland League.

In the Lowlands they were happy to have 4 feeders to the Lowland and again wanted the SJFA to cover most of the admin and discipline side of things.

Whether it was Smith, Regan, or Maxwell they've always taken a hands off approach. We'd have 10 team Highland and Lowland Leagues with the SJFA running everything below if the SFA got what they wanted.

Lowland league clubs definitely shouldn't be able to vote on relegation issues that directly affect them. A decision like that should be an objective and strategic one taken by people looking out for the interests of the entire pyramid rather than those of their own club.

While I agree, the issue with that, is that for consistency, it would need to be implemented at SPFL level as well.

Think the move from the regional FAs and Leagues at the Lowland level to the SFA is often where the problems start.

The Lowland League would remain the same size with extra teams relegated if need be.

And that could potentially happen almost every season given the majority of clubs are central belt.  Why should the HL face a less demanding position than the LL?

That level in the pyramid, if you relegate willy-nilly (beyond the bottom 2/3 down) creates an uneven balance in what clubs have to achieve which won't be down to ability but geography.

Organisation as it is currently isn't really helping anybody but then neither is Brechin having a 215 mile trip to Wick.

Campbeltown to Berwick is 240 miles, they have to put the tier 5 line somewhere before going National at tier 4, then split it again at tier 6. You know, like a pyramid.

i think the 42-(16-18)-the rest is about the right set up for Scotland, it just need to be more fluid

EDIT - and it’s better than the English system where you would have Cumbernauld Colts playing in the Highland league before too long

The Lowland League has chosen to maintain 16 teams, the Highland League haven't.

Back to the Premier league. DB deserved their win today. First half Dunbar were a shambles and at 2-0 down, left themselves too much to do. A much improved 2nd half by Dunbar but we can't buy a clean sheet and don't look like scoring. No excuses,it was 11v11 and we are just not at it. Squeaky bum time indeed.

Both are within the lowlands however, debatable that Angus is part of the Highlands.

The issue remains, there is going to be more movement of central belt clubs from the SPFL into non league and movement of HL clubs into the SPFL without consistent replacements relegated from the SPFL to HL should we promote the champions of both, gegraphy as opposed to abilitiy becomes a pertinent factor.

The HL teams will have an easier path because of there being fewer teams in their catchment while the central belt is more difficult a path due to the downward movement of league teams into the non-league part of the set-up.

How many teams in the SPFL, (should they get relegated)are natural fits for the HL?  5 maybe 6?  That would include a championship (soon to be 2) and two Premier sides that aren't likely to fall that far any time soon.

2 clubs that could fall into the HL and really Elgin are the only ones in a position to fall if it was two up two down this season.  Take Elgin out of League 2 and the nearest club that could arguably go into the HL area are Forfar who are in a promotion play-off).  They (and this seasons HL Champions) wouldn't bring the necessary balance.

Promoting on a regional basis to the SPFL will always ensure geography is as much a factor as ability for a club.

Linlithgow Rose 2-4 Blackburn United

Astonishing fightback from Blackburn. Linlithgow were 2 up and cruising at half time but Blackburn pulled one back straight after half time and Linlithgow were rattled. After that it was all effort, determination and a decent bit of football from Blackburn to win it.

Opens up an escape route for Blackburn at the bottom, they now have to take that chance.

totally agree, for sure was a game of 2 halves, but whatever the Blackburn manager said at half time, played much better football the 2nd half and never let up pressing from the front trying to get back into it. Unsure what happened for the 2nd goal but I doubt they care very much. Cracking game all in all

So Tranent and Penicuik level on points each with 1 game to play. Tranent have a massive goal difference advantage. (20 !)

Tranent v Jeanfield . Home win sees Tranent win the title.

Will Jeanfield spoil the belters party ? Stranger things have happened .
