Recommended Posts

Tuesday 9th November 2021
Linlithgow Rose 2-0 Newtongrange Star
Penicuik Athletic 2-1 Dunbar United
Tynecastle 3-3 Dundonald Bluebell
Whitehill Welfare 0-7 (seven) Tranent

Wednesday 10th November 2021
Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts 4-5 Crossgates Primrose

No real shocks in any of the outcomes, but high-scoring drama in several of the games... amazing scoreline at Inverkeithing; amazing comeback at Tynecastle; amazing capitulation at Whitehill.

Well, by going to Whitehill & Swifts I've seen 16 goals in 2 days. I could have made worse choices...

Absolutely mental game though yesterday, once you thought one side had the game under control, the other side suddenly took over again and it kept going back and forth all game. The came could have gone either way and Crossgates just had that bit more towards the end.

Sub standard refereeing/officiating led to a great game for the neutral but frustrating for players, coaches and fans of both teams. Not easy being a referee and linesman must do more imho. Great entertainment under the lights for a good crowd with some great play and good players on show. Great value for £6.

Yeah, agreed, refereeing was awful, even for what I'm used to. Anyone involved with either side must have gotten very frustrated with it. But indeed, great entertainment for me.

Camelon v Broxburn Athletic
Crossgates Primrose v Dundonald Bluebell (2pm)
Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts v Sauchie (2pm)
Jeanfield Swifts v Hill of Beath Hawthorn
Linlithgow Rose v Tynecastle
Lothian Thistle HV v Blackburn United (3pm)
Newtongrange Star v Dunbar United
Tranent v Penicuik Athletic
Whitehill Welfare v Musselburgh Athletic

"Match of the Day" is undeniably Tranent v Penicuik.

LTHV v Blackburn and Newtongrange v Dunbar also huge.

Great result again from Penicuik, even with the equaliser. It’s not been pretty but a point each will do very nicely with the others that they’ve scraped together recently.

Wayno on 6 in 2 games for Tranent already has to be worth a mention though 🔥 👏

Saturday 13th November 2021
Camelon 2-3 Broxburn Athletic
Crossgates Primrose 1-1 Dundonald Bluebell
Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts 2-3 Sauchie
Jeanfield Swifts 3-2 Hill of Beath Hawthorn
Linlithgow Rose (eight) 8-0 Tynecastle
Lothian Thistle HV 0-3 Blackburn United
Newtongrange Star 1-4 Dunbar United
Tranent 1-1 Penicuik Athletic
Whitehill Welfare 0-3 Musselburgh Athletic

Linlithgow really won twice today - at Prestonfield and at Forresters - as they utterly crushed Tynecastle (WTF btw?) and the leading pair thrashed out an entertaining draw before a big crowd on an unseasonably fine day.

There were excellent away wins for Blackburn, Dunbar and Sauchie.

Today saw the campaign pass 50% mark, which means we should see final placings and a champion whatever befalls the remainder of the campaign in public health terms.

There is undeniably now a 3-horse race for the title in which Penicuik hold the advantage of games-in-hand and Linlithgow hold the disadvantage of ground still to make up. In the mother of all relegation battles nobody in the bottom half can breathe easy, although Newtongrange's revival having stalled will temporarily subdue the worst panic. This is some league.
