I’m smiling at that green pitch Tam here’s Newbyres Park yesterday after Arniston’s 2-1 win ...

When the referee came out at HT for another pitch inspection I thought for a moment he'd abandon the game....

Saturday 19th February 2022
Craigroyston P-P Ormiston
Dunipace 3-0 Kennoway Star Hearts
Edinburgh United P-P Kirkcaldy & Dysart
Haddington Athletic 5-0 Rosyth
St Andrews United 0-1 Leith Athletic
Thornton Hibs P-P Dalkeith Thistle

Haddington shook off last week's shock in a thumping win over Rosyth while Leith did the necessary at St Andrews. Dunipace won comfortably but they're not going to mount a title challenge.

League games reduce significantly in tempo for next few weeks as King Cup and League Cup sectional ties predominate.

Good time to take stock and consider how matters are poised for the run-in.

It's a straight dash to the finish for Leith and Haddington - both will be looking to bank 100% points before meeting at Peffermill on the last day. In this respect Haddington's game-in-hand could be vital and they also liquidated 2/3 of GD deficit today.

Down in the mid-table it looks like 6 clubs... Rosyth/Kennoway/Thornton/Coldstream/Edinburgh Utd/Arniston... fighting for 3 or 4 places, and with 4pts among them all: who can tell which.

Remaining "head-to-head":

Sat 28th May     Leith Athletic v Haddington Athletic      (last day of season)

Cowdenbeath's continued reeling-in of Elgin will invigorate who might finish 2nd.

FT Tweedmouth Rangers 0-3 Leith Athletic

Old Shielfield was the unexpected graveyard of Leith's title hopes in 2017 and at times today it looked like history might repeat itself. Visitors took an early lead - with suspicisions of handball - but the hosts were playing better and were monopolising pressure and potent attacks.

More even contest after HT but Leith weren't comfortable until scoring past Tweedmouth's now lame 'keeper on break with 12mins left, then a deflected effort in stoppage time.

Shadow of Leith's performance that outfoxed Haddington a fortnight ago but ultimately a solid victory.

Saturday 26th February 2022
Coldstream 2-3 Kennoway Star Hearts
Craigroyston 0-0 Ormiston
Dalkeith Thistle 1-1 Arniston Rangers
Dunipace 5-2 Rosyth
Tweedmouth Rangers 0-3 Leith Athletic

Craigroyston        are relegated to EOSL Second Division for 2022-23

Big win for Kennoway in "6-pointer".

Saturday 2nd April 2022
Dunipace (seven) 7-1 Edinburgh United
Ormiston 0-4 Coldstream
Thornton Hibs 2-2 Dalkeith Thistle

Ormiston        are relegated to EOSL Second Division for 2022-23

Coldstream boosted their hopes with a good win at Ormiston, whilst Thornton would have been targeting all 3pts at home to Dalkeith. Dunipace cement their 'best of the rest' credentials after skelping erratic Edinburgh Utd.

Erratic is just the word HJ.
I think some of the columns are out on your table.

Haddington it is who succumb.

Bo'ness Athletic still fighting on 4 fronts. Hopefully they've laid-in plentiful supplies of muscle rub, HT oranges and restoratives for forthcoming 9 weeks...

What have you done with the real Tweedmouth...?

Haddington battered Dalkeith to go 3pts and perhaps as importantly 6 goals clear. Important win for Rosyth; another hard loss for Edinburgh Utd.
