HibeeJibee
Saturday 18th December 2021 Glenrothes 2-2 Luncarty Heriot-Watt University 2-0 Hawick RAU Lochore Welfare 2-2 Edinburgh South Newburgh 1-4 Easthouses Lily Peebles Rovers 1-1 Kinnoull Preston Athletic V-V Burntisland Shipyard Stirling University EOS 1-3 Oakley United Leaders held by Luncarty as Oakley close to within 2pts. Kinnoull and Lochore also draw. Due to the Christmas break there are no more games until 3 weeks time; except for the New Year derbies which have ended up here, there and everywhere. So with 60% of games completed a good opportunity to reflect on the standings. Glenrothes lead only narrowly ahead of Oakley, while Preston remain in the driving seat given their games in hand. After that a few longer shot hopes. It looks like catching Luncarty is the best chance of those in bottom half surviving.
HibeeJibee
FT - Preston 8-0 Hawick Hosts were as comfortable winners as the scoreline suggests versus an embattled Hawick at the Pennypit Park in Prestonpans. There was perhaps 120-150 of a crowd there to see it. First half goals came from a corner, tap-in from a squared ball, 1-on-1 after the defence parted and a penalty. Visitors rallied after the break then sunk back to type with a 'keeper error losing possession after fresh-airing it, misplaced pass-back, and 2 runs which split the defence. It should have been 10 - as a sympathetic ref gave 2 offsides in the closing minutes which appeared very generous. Preston now 4pts from top with 3 games-in-hand. The Goth Clock
Edinburgh South 0-0 Heriot Watt University A dour affair with little in the way of goalmouth action but still better than watching soaps with the wife. Heriot Watt shaded it in the first half, Edinburgh South were the better team after the break.

Preston took advantage, and close to within 2pts while having 3 games-in-hand. Oakley missed their chance to come level in drawing with Luncarty. Burntisland's fine win leaves them best-placed to mount an assault on vital 'top 7'.
zenon
Is that Hawick now mathematically certain to be in the new second division next season?

Mathematically no, they could still get to 26 points and be spared relegation if the EOS loses a club to the LL - but for all intents and purposes, yes.
Ginaro
Dramatic winner for Easthouses in the Borders. Not sure it was enough for simulation as the player doesn't fall down dramatically or appeal, but if the ref gives a YC for that, then it surely has to be brought back for an IDFK. Boy with the flag would be best served with a visit to Specsavers as the ball didn't go out of play.

Still not mathematically certain, Hawick could still reach 26 points with both Edinburgh South and Burntisland losing all their remaning matches having already met each other twice.
