Took my 98 year old nana shopping today. Standing in the queue she suddenly shouted " Do they sell The National here, if so, can somebody cover that shitrag up with a Daily Express please"

Everyone cheered.

Here's a classic lifted from the binfire thread.

Who is doing the accusing? Liz  Toryfuckface Smith MSP.

A long time ago Stu Campbell (who is correctly a pariah now) wrote an article called The Some Arsehole Doctrine in which he observed how much of the Shortbread press is devoted to nothing articles based solely on something Some Arsehole has said. The more things change the more they stay the same etc.

https://www.theguardian.com/media/2021/dec/24/mail-online-ipso-upholds-complaint-over-town-being-no-go-area-for-white-people

The title’s defence – that no reasonable person was likely to take the claim seriously – was dismissed by the Independent Press Standards Organisation (Ipso).

“The headline claim that there were ‘British towns that are no-go areas for white people’ was not supported by the article. The article included no reference to a town or towns which were claimed to be off-limits to white people, and only one area within a city was described as a ‘no-go area’ for white people,” the organisation said.

I love the defence that 'No reasonable person would take it seriously". If it's not to be taken seriously, then why print it?

If ever I look at the DM site it's with a separate browser with full ad, tracker and script blocking. It is one of the worst sites you can visit for crap and the number of 'articles' shoved in your face at the same time. It's that bad that where I used to work it was a blocked site, not because of the political views, but because of the bandwidth that it consumed. But apparently it's a business model that works for it though.
