The concept has basically been around as soon as the WoSFL ball started rolling over a year ago. The name became public when the WoSFL released their fixtures the other week. As it appeared on the full PDF version of the fixtures, sharing the same dates as the SJFA Cup.

  • 21/08/2021 - Marked as R1
  • 25/09/2021 - Marked as R1
  • 30/10/2021 - Marked as R2

It will be for those not a member of the SFA or the SJFA , and through the Shield will be a qualifying route into the following season's Scottish Cup. Now that the SJFA have had their AGM and there's an idea of who will be licenced by the SFA, we should start hearing who will be competing.

Between SFA & SJFA members, it's looking like Kilwinning Rangers will be strong favourites to be the first winners.

EDIT: Now that SFA & SJFA statuses are known, is this the likely entrants for the debut edition?

  1. Bellshill Athletic
  2. Bonnyton Thistle
  3. BSC Glasgow
  4. Campbeltown Pupils
  5. Drumchapel United
  6. Finnart
  7. Forth Wanderers
  8. Glenvale
  9. Harmony Row
  10. Kilsyth Athletic
  11. Kilwinning Rangers
  12. Neilston
  13. Port Glasgow Juniors
  14. Royal Albert
  15. Rutherglen Glencairn
  16. St Cadoc's
  17. St. Peters
  18. Vale of Clyde

That looks correct apart from Wishaw who are in the Junior Cup. Hopefully someone other than Kilwinning wins it as they'll be in the Scottish Cup anyway if they get their licence.

Cheers, it was Wishaw & Yoker that I left on at the end.

Rutherglen will likely be licenced by next year as well. Wouldn't shock me to see one of the newer teams picking it up.

We were right with 18, so that confirms the 5 licensed clubs.

It's my new favourite name for a cup :) Genuinely.

It's one of the impressive things that the WoSFL have been able to do so far in finding new sponsors. Especially at such a difficult time.

Can we change the name for the thread?! [emoji1787]

So by my reckoning: 18 clubs in this... 3 in Scottish Cup (Clydebank, Darvel, Glasgow Uni)... 49 in Junior Cup... 4 in both Scottish and Junior cups (Auchinleck, Cumnock, Girvan, Irvine Meadow)?

18+3+49+4 = 74

20+16+15+15+8 = 74

After confirming a title sponsor in Strathclyde Demolition, they're also doing a charity partnership with Time To Tackle.

Quote

The WoSFL Management Committee are delighted to announce that Time to Tackle will be our Charity Partner for the Strathclyde Demolition Cup for Season 2021/22.

Mental health issues are becoming increasingly more common and sadly suicide is a leading cause of death in Scotland among people aged 15-34 years. In 2018, suicide accounted for 28% of all male deaths in this age group. This statistic is shocking and we want to highlight the help that is available out there for people struggling with their own mental health. Time to Tackle co-founder Aaron Connolly is a player in the West of Scotland Football League, and the way the team use football and fitness as therapy made this partnership seem like a logical step as we look to help fight poor mental health.

Time to Tackle was founded in October 2019 by Aaron and his wife Siobhán Connolly following Aaron’s long running battle with poor mental health.  After struggling to find support Aaron and Siobhán decided to use their own lived experiences to create a group that would not only benefit them on a personal level but also give hope and support to others.

While considering the many aspects of mental health, Time to Tackle aim to provide the support to do the following;

  • Improve physical and mental health
  • Challenge stigma surrounding mental health
  • Promote open and honest conversations
  • Provide a safe non-judgemental environment
  • Create peer support networks to combat loneliness

Their award-winning Football Therapy program promises to help you smile again, enjoy exercising and create friendships, details of how to get in touch with the team are on their website

As part of the Partnership we will promote Time to Tackle on our social media channels as well as help them raise funds at Strathclyde Demolition Cup matches and work closely with Aaron and the team going forward with mental health campaigns throughout the course of the season.
