Scots on the move

Especially if Burnley continue to play the way they did on Friday night. Looks like they'll pass the ball about and build from the back which should suit Hendry down to the ground.

Jack Hendry has been named in the Club Brugge matchday squad that travelled to Eupen yesterday, which is something he was left out of in their previous two matches. He has become a very important member of the National Team so whatever happens hopefully he starts playing more.

I missed Jack Harper moving to crack Spanish 4th tier outfit "Hercules". Think it might be about time to cap him just in case Spain snatch him from under our noses.

I'll have to keep a keen eye on him this season then. He's clearly hungry to add to the two Tercera División Group 9 medals picked up during his spell with Atlético Malagueño.

Any idea what happened to that club? Seem to have had a shocker over the last decade. Season 2010/11 they were averaging over 20k in La Liga.

Our game against Spain in 2011 was at their ground. A decent wee stadium, although clearly hadn't been touched since the 1982 World Cup.

Reports circulating that Leeds and Nottingham Forest have made approaches for Che Adams.

Southampton have denied the claims, but you never know.

Either move would be somewhat sideways at best in terms of prestige, unless he was going there with a promise of being a first choice striker (spent too many minutes on Saints' bench last year for my liking).

Everyone has had their chance

Jack Hendry has not been on the bench for a second at Club Brugge this season. That sounds good, but in reality the Scottish defender is (currently) at a dead end. From the stands to the base and back: it remains a strange situation. Hendry was not the main culprit for the defeat at Eupen, that was the entire team. But against Zulte Waregem he was sacrificed. His replacement Otasowie made several individual errors – without Mignolet it would have been much worse. And 19-year-old Sylla was even allowed to try it after the break. He really did. Even with Nsoki gone, Hendry didn't get another chance. “At the beginning of the season, even before the preparation, I said: Everyone gets their chance,” said Club coach Carl Hoefkens. “That has happened at the moment. Everyone has had a chance to prove themselves. And from now on, the situation is clear to everyone.”

Three more years of contract. Clear, harsh language and the sign that Hoefkens doesn't see it in Hendry. So it doesn't seem like the Scot should count on opportunities in the near future. The international thinks so. When it turned out that he fell next to the core last Thursday, he posted a photo on Instagram: in a blue-black shirt, with his hands in front of his face. Hendry - who still has a three-year contract - is clearly deeply disappointed. Burnley, among others, showed interest in July, but the English offered far too little. There is currently no adventure under Kompany, but a solution is urgent. The transfer market is still open for three weeks.

After the draw against Essevee, Hoefkens once again expressed his confidence in the boys who had played at the time. “I think it's important that the defensive mindset of the team was there,” Hoefkens added after Essevee. “The defenders have to dare to play forward, in the most efficient way. That goes hand in hand with mistakes and they have to be removed.” So he defended his defenders, even if it wasn't good again. Striking: it was already under Schreuder that Hendry lost his starting position, so there have been doubts in the staff about his defensive added value for some time. Looking forward to what his next step will be. The only position where Hendry can compete is in the center back. So against Mechele, a battle he already lost last year.

Probably doesn’t belong in this part of the forum, but 31 year old Scotland International Leigh Griffiths has signed for semi pro Mandurah City FC in Australia. They’re not in the A league, they play at regional level in Football West State League Division One.
Good luck Leigh!

Leeds would be a step up. Much bigger club.
