topcat(The most tip top)
Not a lot to invent here. The C Major (Ionian) scale is equivalent to the white keys on a piano (i.e. C,D,E,F,G,A,B). Similarly A Minor (Aeolian) and B Diminished (Locrian). Also D Dorian, E Phrygian, F Lydian and G Mixolydian. Basically the same concept with a different starting point. On a guitar, C major, B diminished and A minor have similarities Bdim is basically G7 with the root omitted so you can generally get away with playing one in the place of the other. Alternatively you could play a Dm which is Bdim7 without the root and assume that your bass player will play the root at some point In fact in Jazz you can get away with all sorts of weird shit
DiegoDiego
The chemical mercaptan which is added to gas in order to alert people to leaks at home also attracts buzzards. This helps gas companies find leaks in pipelines.

scottsdad
When filming the original Star Trek pilot The Cage, the actress Susan Oliver was covered in green paint. They shot the scene but nobody told the guy in post-production. He stayed up all night "fixing" the film making her look normal. He thought something had gone wrong in the studio. Luckily they had a copy, so were able to have a word with the guy and leave her as green.

Oddly enough just finished rereading his autobiography, John Fogerty is a legend, Saul Zaentz was a chancing parasite who ripped him off time & time again.

Abraham Lincoln's son Robert was in the same train station when McKinley was shot. He was also a witness to Garfield being shot. He was later invited to an inauguration but declined because he was aware of these coincidences and thought it would safer for the President if he wasn't there.

House Bartender
Discotheques originate - not surprisingly - from France. In occupied France during WWII the Nazis preferred martial music to dance music (very non-Aryan stuff) and imposed their restrictions on the local population. So no more Parisians leaping about to the live music of dance bands. Thus discotheques (record libraries as opposed to bibliotheques being book libraries) began to appear in basements and cellars where the locals could get together to dance furtively to recorded music under a more legit guise.
