I thought we looked better organised, had better movement than last season and players seemed to know what was expected of them. Compare that to the shambles last season and its an improvement for me. It was obvious the board would never get anything moving fast enough to get new players in time for these qualifyers, they havent done it in past few seasons when managers were already in place so it was never happening now.

We just need to weather the expected storm of negativity and start getting the new players signed playing and get the new players for the positions we clearly need in as soon as we can to join them.

Yeah if you take out the fact we could see this coming months off the performance from an inexperienced team was pretty decent. We seem much more organised already compared to the absolute shit shows last season. Our main problem is how quickly these new players will settle and adjust with some coming from outwith Europe.

Celtic aren’t playing Galatasaray in the Europa League, St Johnstone are.

They’re playing Jablonec of Czech Republic.

A supposed "Dunfermline" fan who is obsessed with other teams, are you @Poet of the Macabre by any chance?

If Celtic died like Rangers and were starting the season in League Two, that's exactly the type of goalkeeper and defence I'd expect them to have. They're completely fucked and it's all down to getting the Sellick men in furra 10.

I can't wait to see their gremlin fans chucking fences at Postecoglou, as he seems like he wouldn't hesitate to kick f**k out them.

Obsessed with other teams because I know who sides are playing in Europe? 😂

Not sure what this @Poet of the Macabre did to hurt you but seems to have cut deep since their profile says they haven’t been online in almost a year.

Sevco trolling Septic.

We deserve every bit of ridicule they send our way. Must’ve been difficult to decide which goal to pick out of the 7 they put past that shower.

As funny as it was, they were ranked higher than you going by the Euro ELO system. Maybe wasn't as embarrassing as you think.

Maybe not on paper, that plus 2nd best danish team v 2nd best Scottish team, but in reality they weren’t that good a side.

if forrest hadn’t shat the bed that would’ve went down as a great away performance. Plus we allowed 3 shots on target over 2 legs plus extra time.  The reasons we went out lie with Bitton, Forrest, Barkas and Edouard. You need your big experienced players to help you through and those 4 cost us.

Larne (4th in Norn Iron last term) fluked a 2-1 win over Aarhus (4th in Denmark last term) in the 1st leg of their Conference League tie. Aarhus were 1/8 to win the return leg, but have had an early red card and it's still 0-0.🤣.

*Edit* - Rohan Ferguson is the Larne goalie😂

*Edit* - Larne take the lead in added time at the end of the 1st half🤣.

*Edit* - Larne held on for a 1-1 draw, conceding a late-ish penalty. Through to the next round.

Larne took the lead just before HT, 1-0 on the night.

Yep. They clearly have a few bawbees. I don't follow Norn Iron closely, though  I follow the L.o.I. down south. They are signing players well above the calibre you'd expect. They're not a big club. Only got back to the top flight 2 years ago after a decade at Level #2. In hindsight, they were probably overpriced at 9/1 for the 1st leg and 14/1 tonight. They could well improve on last season's 4th.

Aarhus is a heck of a scalp though. They were only 5 points behind Midtjylland at the split: both teams won the away head-to-head game. Fell away badly in the top six to finish 12 points behind Celtic's conquerors, but it shows Danish League clubs can have plenty of dodgy moments.

Larne is a fairly staunch town. Only maybe 25% are left-footers up there🤣.

I would expect Celtic to put at least 6 past Larne over 2 legs... and so would the bookies.

Checking yesterday's scores:

Mlada Boleslav 3, Jablonec 0 😮

Not entirely surprising. Mlada Boleslav are expected to improve from their usual bottom half position this season.

We have a Slovakian music student on the ground floor of this house. (Bass guitar... You can get a degree in playing bass guitar these days🙄. Four year course. One year access & three proper🤔.) It appears the Czech equivalent of dreaded word "ambitious"🙄 was used in season previews when assessing Mlada Boleslav's chances for 21/22.

Bookies went 11/10 Mlada, 9/4 Jablonec.

Two home goals inside the first 15 minutes, Mlada having earlier had one chalked off by VAR.

Jablonec played their normal 4-5-1, though the #7 Považanec sat in front of the centre backs, making it more 4-1-4-1.

Seem to have huffed & puffed without creating a lot after going 2-0 behind so early. Brought on the winger Pilar midway through the 2nd half but didn't put a 2nd striker on until they went 3-0 down.

A guy named Skoda scored two goals. More than 50% of Mlada Boleslav's workforce is employed by Skoda.

Jablonec really don't seem up to much. Provided Celtic can put away chances more efficiently, they should get through this comfortably.

Some bookies now have prices.

Celtic are a best price of 1/5 😮 with SkyBet to qualify. As short as 1/7 with Bet365, who are best about Jablonec @ 9/2.

Betway the only bookie going evens Celtic for Thursday, though there's a fair bit of 19/20. Jablonec 3/1 with Billy Hill & Unibet and there is some 31/10 with some more exotic bookies.

Paddy Power - of all firms - going 33/1 about Celtic bagging 5 or more on Thursday. Bet365 only going 14/1.

I have a bit of an interest in Czech football after a few visits to Prague. Jablonec are not a great side.
