G'Day! Ange's Gap Year Celtic Euro Backpacking Tour 2021/22.

Recommended Posts

Saw a few positives last night but mainly because the expectation was so low. More optimistic about getting through to the next round but again I had practically written us off before the game kicked off.

Would give Barkas one more chance in the away leg but I would be making enquiries for other keepers in the interim. Not seen any of our friendlies so unable to judge any youth/new signing due to work but quite liked the look of Murray when he came on.

FT: Aalborg 0, Midtjylland 1.

I only had half an eye on it, watching the Boks v. Lions rugby.

Scored midway through the 1st half. Sat back, looked quite comfortable and were dangerous on the break.

The Brazilian contingent went up from three to 4 + 1 sub.  Maybe they should borrow some Deliveroo gear from Ing-Ger-Lund🤔.

Two changes. Last week's new (5-year contract😮) signing from Bahia, Juninho, who isn't an impish 5'5", 9 stone, ex-Celtic number #10, replaced Hoegh at #5. Joel Andersson, the #2 who came on for the last 5 minutes in Glasgow, played in midfield, in front of ex-Brentford RB Dalsgaard, replacing Onyedika.

Didn't look up to much.

I think 2/1 Celtic to win in 90 minutes on Wednesday is arguably a value price... Not that I'll be taking it, mind.

It sez 'ere... as Billy Bragg would say... Must be "Celtic-minded", must Billy Bragg... Good Socialist 'n' aw that he indisputably is...

...Aye, I digress...

It says here, in the vile, capitalist "Sporting" press, that their tipsters have changed tune since last week.

Steve Davies opposed Celtic in last Tuesday's Racing Post. Joe Casey is entrusted with today's preview and he likes the Bhoys. He prefers some insurance in opting for an investment at Billy Hill's 11/10 Celtic to qualify, rather than recommending the 15/8 over 90 minutes.

The Racing & Football Outlook does not have a dedicated match preview, but James Milton leads on the game in his column on the Champions League qualifiers. He recommends the 90-minute draw at 12/5.

After last week's performance, it would be disappointing if Celtic didn't win this.

Defence gives me the fear. How we are going into this with a centre half pairing with a combined age of 35 is startling. Bain in for Barkas is understandable however it’s also equally terrifying.

Looking forward to seeing more of Abada and hopefully in what could be Edouards last game he can sign off with a goal and a decent performance.

Fucking bricking it

Barkas dropped for tonight

I think that might be the end of his Celtic career

Apparently he was very good in Greece, and we obviously seen something in him to sign him.

Can’t say I’m excited about Joe Hart coming in but I don’t doubt he will be a big  improvement over what we already have, I don’t believe he would be the disaster some are suggesting

We’d take Fraser Forster back in a heartbeat despite him being a bench warmer for Southampton for a few years now

Edit: No real nerves tonight as I honestly don’t have much expectation.

Just a personal opinion but I wouldn’t have Forster back either. He binned us off last year when we needed a goalkeeper and whilst I understand his reasons for it he made it clear Celtic wasn’t his priority.

Furthermore we should be looking long term to someone who Ange wants and fits his style of play, not someone who will give us a season and then f**k off again

Absolutely mental to play Barkas and then drop him after one game.

Not as mental as going into a CL qualifier with Barkas and Bain as your goalkeeping options, mind you.

Ange must think that Urhoghide is shite because he prefers Murray. So why did you give him a 4 year deal?

😂   Hart is a crazy bombscare of a keeper.

There were/are better free agent keepers who had left EPL clubs in the summer. Most have been snapped up now.

Are you paying West Ham a fee for that clown?

He’s nowhere near that bad

Keepers such as? If we do sign Hart I’m guessing it’s a short term gap until we can find ourselves a long term No.1

He plays for Tottenham, not West Ham

Hart has played so little first-team football recently that I forgot who he plays for. Has even started a game for Spurs? I can't remember him doing so. Hart was poor at West Ham and Burnley (cover for Heaton and Pope) who released him.

As for alternatives, Wayne Hennessey (34), Tom Heaton (35), Paulo Gazzaniga (29) and Marcus Bettinelli (29) were all available as free agents this summer. They have signed for Burnley, Man United, Fulham and Chelsea respectively.
