Adamski
I'd say... It needs a boundary just south of places like Irvine, Kilmarnock, Darvel, etc. Dumbarton sneaks in, places like Helensburgh and Balloch don't. Largely agree with the northern boundary on the map otherwise. In the east I'd say the boundary is closer to Edinburgh - just to the east of Presonpans and Tranent. Basically as someone else wrote - if it's somewhere that people from Glasgow/Edinburgh go for holidays, then it's not in the central belt.

scottsdad
For me, the northern boundary of the central belt is between Stirling and Perth. Say, halfway up the A9. Ayr

invergowrie arab
If you draw a line from Stirling to Glenrothes, everything below that is where the stupid accents start so there.
AsimButtHitsASix
Pretty much the insert in this picture if ye remove the wee bits of the Borders and Argyll that stick in and almost all of Stirling

falkirkthebigclub
'The Highland/Lowland whisky boundary' is the correct answer. Anyone who thinks Fife should be excluded should have their Drivers Licence confiscated due to failing to acknowledge the existence of a series of obvious & convenient set of bridges.

Detournement
Ayr/Prestwick and Killie are definitely part of the central belt. Fife is absolutely fucking not.
Gordon EF
North East - Dundee South East - Edinburgh North West - Greenock South West - Ayr Draw a box with corners at these four places and draw little squiggles to include any large towns near the edges (like Perth). -

Bonksy+HisChristianParade
I like how the OP includes Ayr in the Central Belt due to the 45 minute bus ride to Glasgow City Centre (how fast is this bus travelling btw?), but excludes the much closer city of Stirling.

It's not just down to geography. Fife is own it's weird place culturally in the same way Dundee and Aberdeen are.
