Bo'ness United 2021/22

For the first 60+ minutes the BU's were the better team by a distance and at 2-0 there were plenty of opportunities for the third goal. Alas it never came and once Cumbernauld Colts got a goal back the game swung in favour of the visitors who looked like they were going to snatch an unlikely point. With substitutions and the consequential positional changes we looked to be struggling but fortunately the BU back line and keeper held out for the 3 points.

Well done the BU's.

First 70 mins today were excellent played some good football and should’ve scored 4 or 5 last 20 mins we stopped passing the ball and giving it away to easy hence we struggled at the end MOTM McCormack  he was excellent at full back today and could easily have had a hat trick today

Yes we were good for the first 60-70 minutes but for the remainder we put ourselves under pressure with a lot of poor distribution. Galbraith and Grant missed easy opportunities to put the game to bed and that gave the Colts a chance to get back into the game. We were just clearing the ball back to them and the link between defence and midfield was non existent as we didn’t have anyone who was willing to hold  on to the ball.

The defence were outstanding in particular Jamie McCormack and also good to see Murray Carstairs back. Matty Flynn certainly puts in a shift and got no protection from the very weak refereeing.

The big positive? 3 points

I wonder if the formation played yesterday could have contributed to not being able to relieve the pressure in last 30 mins.

Matty worked his socks off and held the ball up but with no one near him it just came straight back.Same when Kieran came on.

If Nicky was fit and played in a 10 role it could help.Or playing with another striker who could help split their defence when on the offensive.

Thought the defence was outstanding combined with Devon's efforts was a real positive going into the rest of the season.

I often why wonder why there is no quick response to Matty when he gets the ball surely that’s the idea of playing a hold up striker.

Hopefully yesterday’s win will give us the confidence to push on again and get some points on the board after December’s blip. Hopefully we can keep a settled team which we haven’t been able to do much this season

Read on Twitter that yesterday was goalie Andy Murphy's 150th game for the BU's.

Congrats on that, and has been one of the best keepers at the BU’s in years. Has is moments but what keeper doesn’t. Probably one of the best in the LL.

As a player who really splits opinion amongst the BU support, I feel that Ryan Stevenson needs some credit for his performance on Saturday. First half out wide on the left wing I thought he was excellent. Second half he fell out of the game a bit but so did the team as a whole.
