In League 1. A complete donkey any higher. Be surprised if he reaches double figures next season.

He may well not hit double figures next season but his record in previous seasons at championship and spl level I wouldn’t say merit complete donkey status. He has his flaws but can still be an asset I’d say. Wouldn’t have him 1st choice striker next season though

Rubbish he was injured for half a season basically if not for him no promo

Yes, Murray was the difference in the play-off games, scored a goal from nothing in the first leg and then wins and scores a penalty in the 2nd leg. In the 3 league games that he didn't play against us this year we won 2 and drew 1. In every other game he played (5 including cups and play-offs) we didn't win any of them. While he didn't score in any of them his pace and ability to get the team up the park made them a better team.

QP definitely improved all round for the play-offs, but without Murray I think we'd just have had enough to get over the line, at the very least it would have gone to a shoot-out. They've had value for money purely by his performances in the play-offs. He clearly wont be as effective at Championship level but is definitely someone who can play at that level.

Of course he will. The majority of your squad were at your club for that very reason so it can't be a surprise to you if they manage to get an even better deal elsewhere.

It’s not a surprise. Me saying it should indicate that. And I’m not troubled by the mercenary act. Just making the point that for all his badge kissing, cheeky chappy, loveable daft laddie routine he’ll not look back when his agent tells him to walk.

Ffs he's not had the brass neck to kiss the badge has he?😂 What a riddy.

I see Reagan Thomson has been released by Newcastle.  A shame it didn't work out for him but might be good for him to get away from that dreadful Under 23's league and get some real football somewhere else.

I saw he was sitting in the stand at the Glasgow Cup final.

We never saw enough if him to tell whether he would've made it into our current 'professional' set up, but could he be someone we would being back? If the likes of Charlie King and Gardener Speirs who worked with him before reckon he's got what it takes, could they be recomending him to Beuker/Coyle for a trial?

Could see that happening. Fits the model.

Shame he couldn’t make a difference in more games then and maybe we would have been Champions rather than play-off hopefuls. Not good value for money. If he gets a better offer somewhere else he’ll be off like a shot.

They will all be off like a shot if they get a better offer. That's professional football for you. All the guys we will be signing will come to us because we made the best overall offer.

Sorry to pick on your post Tangled Web (there’s been many like it) but this “that’s professional football for you” myth needs busted. There’s loads of professional players who spend most of their career at one or two clubs. Every season as amateurs we bussed in players and bussed out just as many. Few were around for more than two seasons.

People who keep jumping ship either have a lack of integrity or keep moving before they get found out. Being professional isn’t a reason. Might be a factor but not the reason. And as your last comment implies, the set-up at QP now should not only attract better players but guys who want to stay around and help build a winning team.

Seems a bit strange to talk about integrity and loyalty when we have just  unceremoniously jettisoned several players who have won back to back promotions. Clubs will always put themselves and their ambitions first and players have every right to do the same. They will spend their short careers on 1 to 2 year contracts so have every right to seek out a better deal/ situation when an opportunity arises.

Fair comment. But I don't see how that sits alongside the almost cult-like adulation of individuals who turn up when it suits them. When guys like Doyle and Muir get punted and someone who's main attributes seem to be running fast, falling down and scoring from dead balls when unchallenged gets rewarded, not to mention all his medical bills at specialist clinics paid and extended time-out for family issues, there's something very shallow about the minds involved.

As for the club's lack of integrity, I'd say bare faced lying to club members has already covered that.

Football is a job. Unless you have a real emotional attachment to a club, you go and get the best deal to help you pay the bills. Same rules apply if you feel you can advance your career elsewhere. It’s the same as any other industry in that regard. The emotion and sentiment is for the fans. They’re the only constant. Everyone else is just passing through.

On the guys being released, are we suggesting that we keep players simply on the basis that they gave their all? “That’s their job” as the great Royston Keane would say. If we feel we can sign better players than those out of contract, that’s exactly what we should do. There can’t be any sentiment because guys are likeable characters or have served the club well. The ultimate question has to be “are these guys realistically going to have us competing in the Championship?” That’s really all it should come down to.

We finished 28 points off the top of League One and tough decisions had to be made. Owen Coyle obviously has a clear idea of where he wants to go in terms of style of play and we’ve got to trust him on that.

I thought the promotion could have potentially come a year too early for you guys with big changes still needed to make you Championship ready. However, with that cut-throat release list, Coyle is just speeding up the process. I think most, if not all, are the right decision for the ambition you guys have. Certainly will be a few steals if anybody in League 1 can pick some of the more notable ones up and get a tune out of them though.

Brechin were loyal to players who weren't great but turned it up for the play-offs, you guys are a lot better but still, don't do a Brechin.

The current QP support is less than 900, why should we go elsewhere if we can accommodate our own fans at Lesser. Who cares if some away fans can’t get in.

This is an absolutely stinking attitude to have, more in keeping with your other pals elsewhere in Glasgow.
