Queen’s Park 21/22

Recommended Posts

At the current rate of progress, Queens Park might finally get to play at Lesser Hampden around 2025. Passed by 3 times today (you don’t need to know why), the excavation guys being fast asleep while one assumes they’re on the clock. One in the company branded Land Rover and his mate parked next to him. Surely on a stadium build you would expect more than two folk to be working on site?

It will never be built. We’ll eventually just merge with Airdrie and finish 7th in League One every season, until an asteroid obliterates us all.

Good to see the youngsters doing so well in the league and the Scottish Cup. Bodes well for our future. Sadly, there are still restrictions on attending the games.

Seems a bit crazy that 50,000 can go to Hampden without restrictions and we can have 600+ at Firhill, but a crowd that's barely going to reach three figures is still not allowed at youth games.

As a general rule I’m normally totally against it, but does anyone know if we tried to switch Saturday’s game? 12:30 start (it never runs on time) for 100,000+ people to file through the city centre for Cop26. Buses likely to be even more of a mess than usual. Can’t predict if there will be any knock on effect for the underground either.

One of the few occasions where the crowd would probably be bigger if the game wasn’t on a Saturday.

Yeah can see it being an absolute farce on Saturday trying to get there. Heading up hours early seems to be the only option at this stage as can see the subway being all kinds of fun given there is stuff happening in both the west end and the city centre.

The East Fife team bus will have a hard time getting to Firhill on time as well I suspect.

Alloa Athletic 10

Montrose 9

Queens Park 9

Get nothing for being top in October/November. If we don't improve quickly we'll be mid table at Christmas.

Such a tight league mid table could be 3 points off the top! Maybe wishful thinking but I think we'll improve and strengthen as the season progresses
Full time training and squad depth should count and hopefully the coaching staff will work out what our best midfield set up is
Would like to see Fox/Morrison reinstated in central defence but less worried about where goals are coming from now that super Bob McHugh has transformed himself into a goal machine!

The fixture list between now and Christmas is very interesting. I would actually say that anything less than 9 points from our next 3 matches - East Fife & Clyde at home, then Peterhead away - would be slightly disappointing.

After the cup game against Killie we go into a much tougher run of matches against Falkirk at home, then Airdrie and Montrose away. It's certainly going to be exciting anyway!

Look back at the last six in the form table and the two that we should look back on with regret were Clyde away and Alloa at home. We should have seen both of those out.

On the upside, Saturday was a great point and I thought the second half at Dumbarton was arguably the most accomplished we’ve looked since turning full-time. Every other team around us will have a list of “should haves” as well. Mad, mad league. Enjoying it, though.

I discovered today that the first three Hampden Parks all opened on the last Saturday of October in their respective years. Hope that’s not a tradition we’re sticking with

October 2023 possibly
