Who will be the Banter Kings of Scottish Football 2021-22

Ideally i'd like hearts 4 adrift at the bottom with 8 to play. Any outcome from there would cause a delicious mix of hilarity and heads gone.

To be fair this is the most stable we've been since, well, ever... 

So it's either incoming ASAP or we're entering a new enlightened era

Both looking strong at the minute. But never underestimate the capacity for fucking up within Scottish football.  It's what we do best.

Our national team could pump England in the euros, the players could go out and celebrate, be forced to self-isolate and our team be thrown out the tournament for being unable to field a side in the next game.

Yup, that's the year. We were good value for banter material that entire season. Mixu asking "What's the point in fucking training?" after just his second game in charge is the perfect way to sum it up.

Our banter years may or may not have continued after that*, but we really peaked that year, whereas Sevco were relatively competent at that point. Hilarious Scottish cup final aside.

Falkirk's collapse this season was absolutely sensational and deserves a great deal of credit.

Even in its own terms it comes close to eclipsing Celtic's achievement.

In Falkirk's case though, it was built upon such successful previous banter years that they'd almost slipped from the banter radar.

I think that such a sustained performance deserves due recognition.

You're right about this season though, that Falkirk collapse was stunning, and any other year apart from peak sevco, hearts' covid relegation and hibs' collapse, it would surely have been a winner.

But I think Celtic's season long performance, from defending a treble on the brink of history they fucked up absolutely everything they touched. Add in dubai, Lenny's angry rant, the fans slaughtering the players and tearing down fences, papped out the Cup to County, Eddie keeping them hanging for a few months then becoming Eddie How No? .. there's been so much.

I think people on here and maybe Scots in general tend to be a bit hard on themselves when it comes to football. On a per capita basis, I think the league and country fare very well.

They did, but it meant no play-off instead of play-off. Queens were really good that first season, and not far off getting past Rangers in the PO if I remember rightly?. But, having been cost a play-off, Falkirk then went on to finish second to Rangers and Hibs.

I think in those three years Falkirk would have gone up in one of them, probably, and would be miles from where they are now. That's fitba.

The front runners for this are clearly Celtic after the runaway success of last season. Its hard to see how last seasons comedy show could be bettered however they have continued their rich vein of form into the close season by being left dangling by Steady Eddie only to be cruelly rejected. Like a spurned lover they immediately went on the rebound and have tried to lure in a coach who isnt yet qualified to.......errrrr..........coach.......in Europe anyway. Coupled with no signings on the horizon, a few players leaving and boardroom disinterest it will only take a shoeing from some Khazak goatherders to cement their grip on the title for another season. 

Next in line must surely be The Dandies, with a much trumpeted new stadium being built, the appointment of the Special One as manager and a strong record of constant under achievement v ridiculous expectations they must surely be chasing Celtic for the coveted title and with their links to American megabucks we can surely expect the arrival of some Caixinha-esque signings any day now but even this may not be enough to catapult them back to the Ebbe Skovdahl glory years. 

Yes despite early pressure from the Edinburgh titans i suspect the title could be a straight contest between Celtic and Aberdeen.

They won a shortened season's title by 12 points. They were a poor team, no doubt. They never struggled to win that league though.

Hearts having Boring Bobbie in charge. Means they'll likely grind their way to 5th, get knocked out both Cups in the Quarters, having someone (Boyce) score 10+ goals, yet their fans will still all be absolutely seething.
