The note in the bottom left of the graphic states that those playoffs will be played if EOS either loses OR gains a team to/from the LFL.

Does this still depend on the result of the playoffs between East, West and South?

No it doesn't. It lumps all the possibilities together, using a # to show which league positions are "possibles". Conference X 3rd place was a possible promotion and not a play-off, but only if the EOS loses a club to the LL - which will not happen as Vale of Leithen have been relegated.

I am quite sure your confidence is misplaced... it means what it says!

There was only one potential playoff within the EoSFL and that was a promotion playoff for the First Division Conference runners up. The 8th placed markings would have been decided by highest points total. And 3rd in Conference X was a potential promotion spot. One things for certain Conference X never had a possible playoff.

"in the event of a net gain of 1 club from or a net loss of 1 club to the LL" this is an either or situation, so it would not make sense for the Conference X 3rd place being promoted in both cases. Like the divisions above, an extra club is only promoted if there is space to fill - i.e. if the EOS loses 1 club to the LL, which cannot now happen.

The obvious interpretation seems wholly legitimate. If your standpoint were correct the 'OR clause' is rendered supremely superfluous to requirement. It seems to exist in order to prevent the Premier Division from having to operate with an uneven number in membership.

Correct, the Premier Division is going to be 16 clubs next season, that's why 5th bottom will go down if nobody goes up to the LL.
Dav nan Gael
Magnificent 2nd half performance from Whitburn tonight vs Bo'ness Athletic,Whitburn played the entire 2nd half with 10 men. 0-1 down at the break and a man sent of rightly for a bad challenge on the stroke of half time, they equalised thru a great strike by Andy Thompson then went in front with a header at the back post. Great crowd for a Tuesday nite, must have been about 300 there. Onto round 2 at Bo'ness on Saturday...... BA impressed me however, particularly 1st half, very good up front and in the middle of the park. Defensively theyre a bit suspect.
Andy groundhopper
Just back ,couldn't see that 2nd half coming - Bo'ness just lumped it long, didn't play any passing game really. Easy to defend that, Whitburn worked their socks off,and could have scored one or two more. A bit unlucky to be behind 01 as they missed a few decent chances in the first half.Enjoyed that one, 300 crowd a good guess, any official figure ?

Dav nan Gael
Bo'ness Athletic 1 Whitburn 2 Another rollercoaster of a game served up by these 2 once again.......BA go down to ten men, then early 2nd half go 1-0 up. Whitburn get a penalty 1-1 Then get a player sent off 10v10 Last seconds the ball whipped into the BA box,Whitburn head on it and cue bedlam !! Big Derby game next weekend Armadale v Whitburn.
